wouldn’t know Hora. In the same way they say ‘if you remember the sixties, you weren’t there’. That applied double when you were staff at the Hac

Anyway – I’d have got the bouncers to kick you out. Happy days indeed

I still remember the night I turned up and there was suddenly the large black metal detectors on the doors. Gulped when the bouncers said they were for the potential knife and gun problem 😮

I also remember the weekend after we were at Picadilly21’s (we used to go there to try and ‘pull’ older totty for experience!) that someone was chased through the club and shot dead in the toilets.

it’s usually a quality night, if a bit messy towards the end.

If it’s still SSE doing the sound system then expect LOUDNESS, the system was originally specced by Big Mick of Metallica fame and he’s deaf as a post. It’s the only place I’ve struggled to breath from bass pressure 😈

Went to a rave in a field back in the day somewhere in Kent/Surrey, there were loads of VDubs there too, Afro Dizzi Act (sp ?) made a live PA. The bass actually made your t-shirt jump. I could still hear music for days after. Wicked.

    Mr Kirk’s Nightmare

Don’t know how to do vids.

I’m going on my bike now, otherwise I will sit here all day listening to old skool tunes!

Karinofnine – was that rave in wrotham or edenbridge? Shut up and dance also did a pa? Still get flashbacks.

How about this tune – the birth of jungle, all got a bit moody after IMO 😀

And this took a LOT longer to ID, until 2 year ago i nailed it and bought it.
I heard it dropped in a set, i KNEW it was PVD and a remix of forbidden fruit, but i couldnt find WHICH remix- its actually called forbidden future..

There was definately one in near Redhill with a hefty police presence that I remember they came over the PA advising people to drive into the field.

There was also one with a big bush fire some kind of Energy IIRC.

I nearly ended up at a rave in May this year, near blandford, was kept awake by the music in my tent but never plucked up the courage to wonder over, to be fair terror core isn’t really my scene

I vaguely remember a live PA by Oaky and Grace at Angels Burnley, either on the last night or very very near the closing down night, that was an unbelievable night, apart from standing outside for half an hour ’cause i was overheating…

i kinda wish i’d been born a couple of years earlier, despite going to a few raves at a somewhat young age it had all gone a bit legit and indoors by the time i was really old enough. mind you i wouldn’t give up my ‘crasher years for owt

Have to say, most of this stuff now sounds really cheesy and dated nowadays and probably only good then after a couple of doves. This however still sounds good:

and as for this: not something I listen to now but it was good at the time (check about 3.20 in)

Right, I’m back from my ride.

This was the tune I was on about

As for where it was. I only remember going round the M25 to south of London then turning off and going down smaller and smaller lanes with loads of VDubs. The rave was in a field. We were all parked in a field. At one point the police turned up and the music went off. In those days we had really nutty trippy Es (so my memories are not necessarily what happened) but I think the police had to let us carry on because we were on private land. The DJ said show the police what you think and everyone flipped them a V. Then we carried on – probably.

That was Reigate by the sounds of things K I think it was a Helter Skelter. My main memory of that night was of a projection on a hedge with the words “acid test” – I passed with flying colours.

Rewski you forgot Mustard Calais, window panes and ying yangs! 😉

ah insomniaks, now there was a place not for the faint hearted. Corporation in sheffield, sticky walls, purple crack den, 6ft4″ transvestites dancing with 16 year old hard house heads in loon boots and Anne Savage on the decks. twisted to the max. fair bit later than that toon though

I used to go raving in Sheffield and the area but not to clubs – I just followed the Smokescreen sound system. Some very happy memories 😀

Sequoia sound system were doing the second stage at a festival i went too recently. there’s still some good stuff coming out of sheffield by the sounds of it, 7 black tentacles were especially good.

I only went to one proper rave in Sheffield and that was under the cooling towers and lasted all of 2 hours before it got busted

the main sample in that tune is still heavily in use today

Although I did most of my Raving In Scotland from 91-95 , I did enjoy 4 years in London from 95-99. Some stand out nights were The Gallery at Turnmills, Leisure Lounge , Gardening Club , The End and special mention to the back to 92 nights at Astoria 1 and 2.

    Happy days ..
