Is there any particular underwear arrangement thats recommended for running?

Obviously don’t want my junk swinging free Partridge style, but normal boxers get a bit sweaty?

I guess I’m asking whats the running equivalent of a chamois?

I wear a pair of thin cycling shorts under my normal running shorts.

    Stops the chafing I find.

Nike combat lycra underwear – not a chaffed knacker since I started wearing it.

    Mostly that.

I have some odlo baselayer pants I wear if it’s wet as I have had chafage before.

Uhm….running shorts have a liner that contains my privates well.

just starting running so only wearing my gym stuff at the mo, no internet in the shorts.

    Might invest in some.

    More seriously

Normal running shorts usually have an ‘inner pant’ which keeps you decent.

Due to chafing thighs, I have a pair of something like this against my skin and then normal running shorts on top

    Compression shorts

SKINS style shorts for me, Lidl do some cheap every now again, skins ones are better compression wise, but comfort is just as good. plenty of other’s in between price wise

The liner on my running shorts chafe like a bas**td on anything over 8 miles. I use some tight Addidas Response shorts underneath which prevents this.

Strangely enough it’s a chamois. My most comfortable shorts for running are duathlon ones with a small pad and no seams in awkward places.

Though the answer to the implied question is that it’s just like cycling shorts – just the shorts nothing underneath. Proper short running shorts have their own liner brief inside.

Running shorts liners are not sturdy enough for my manly tackle. Got some Falke undercrackers that do the job without being sweaty or chafing…

I wrap it round my waist secured with gaffer tape.

OK I don’t. But I do like M&S “Autograph” briefs. Lightweight, slinky and clingy. Or as previously stated, running shorts with built in briefs (e.g. Ron Hills).
