Ashdown Forest is between London and Brighton and is currently off limits for off road action. The Ashdown cycling campaign aims to change this with reasoned debate and petitioning to the conservators of the forest.
Our job has been hampered by a sustained spell of bad experiences where land managers have asked cyclists to leave. It appears that some people need reminding that as ambasitors of our sport we should always be polite to owners, managers and other trail users regardless of their attitude to us.
We have discussed the issues face to face and with the support of IMBA and CTC and I think we have made some progress although these things take time…
