We’re going to Morzine again this summer for a week of DH fun, but we’re going fairly late in the season so the breaking bumps will be at their worst. Are there any exercises I can do to help my arms last more than a day? Thanks.

Slow smooth pushups was always the recommendation for motorbicyclists, worked well for me.

A bit of a cheat but take an ibruprofen or two before you go out every morning, after breakfast.

Masturbation, alternating each arm – that way it’s like someone else is doing it every other time

Can’t believe you’d cheat on your own hand 🙁 No morals left in the world.

Although I do suffer from aching hands due to vibrations, I don’t really suffer from arm pump and I think this is due to my climbing. Therefore, I think climbing type exercises would be good as there’s an obvious crossover where bikers and climbers try to delay “getting pumped”.

Things I’ve used include; Power Putty, Gyro-balls, Black Diamond Doughnut (a rubber ring you squeeze), reverse curls (arm and wrist), squeezing a punctured tennis ball, and “Hectar the forearm correcter” which I made from a rolling pin, sash window weight and length of cord. Wind the weight up in a very slow, controlled manner (elbows locked into your side), then unwind and wind up in the other direction. This is the best exercise I’ve found.

    Relax and brake less.

    +1 for rock climbing.
Also try using a broom handle, with a rope through it, and a weight attached too this.
Wind it up, then down and continue this way until its reached the top.
    Repeat.
    Edit. Beaten to it.
