How did providing free image hosting benefit them?
I guess from ad revenue when people go onto the website to upload the photo and get absolutely bombarded with a shit storm of adverts?
Dunno.
The thing is, they’ve gone from telling their customers ‘it’s all free’ to telling their customers ‘it’s $400’ in one fell swoop; £309 a year at current exchange rate, or almost £26/month.
I would have considered paying for their service had it been reasonable & perhaps inline with other photo services.
But I pay $25 annually for the ‘pro’ version of Flickr (which I am not even sure is necessary anymore) which (and I never thought I’d say this) is a much nicer user experience.
For me, £26/month is not a reasonable fee to charge….for comparison,
My phone contract is £13/month and gets me 600mins, 8Gb data and unlimited texts.
Zwift is only £8/month.
Spotify is only £10/month and gets me access to as much music as I could ever listen to…..
