    ……..in the pouring rain?

We rode lots of secret stuff in North Wales – it was most awesome. One of those rides where you are dreading getting outta the van on the way there, but that turns into a super day in the hills. 🙂

Kinda. I rolled out of central London at 05:30, trying to out 140-odd miles under my wheels and have a swim at Studland Bay in Dorset. I'd not really looked at the weather forecast and just assumed it'd be like last weekend and the main problem would be sunburn.

Anyway, it started raining at about 10:30ish as I made my way from Haslemere to Harting, really got going when I hit the South Downs Way and was simply vile by the time I got to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

Had a long halt and a feed there and then basically decided there wasn't much point riding to the beach in the pouring rain as I'd already probably done 80 miles and had been up quite a while, so I went over Butser Hill to Petersfield for the train. Visibility on top of Butser was down to about 25 metres. Horrible.

I now feel fairly epic, although I'm not sure it was "fun" particularly.

    🙂

Had a great ride today, though I hit the wall 4hrs in and had to be recovered by Mrs Forge 🙂 But Trekster and I did a natural hill route starting in Sanquhar, some light rain in places nothing major, had a great days riding really really enjoyed it though it was hard, I've got some work to do for the Kielder 100 that's for sure need a new strategy I think.

Managed 40km on the roadbike, took some pictures of the riders at Les Gets

    http://www.ridemorzine.org/2010/05/les-gets-opens/

Witnessed a motorbike lose it on a corner at top speed and disappear off into the woods down a slope. Went to find the rider (with trepidation) who was shaken but nothing broken, with 5 others hauled his bike back to the road side (it was a steep slope). It was a mess!

Coastkid, followed your monster fat tyre tracks around to Yellowcraigs when out running with the dogs from Aberlady. Black sandfly's were the only thing that spoiled the day (must have swallowed half a dozen)

Nope, it's been my first bike free week all year. Off out in a bit for a short off road and hoping Mondays better for a road ride.

Had nice short loop of 19 miles with coffee, bacon butties and cake stop. While in the cafe the heavens opened so we planned a night in the pub, been a long while since the 3 of us went to the pub together. Went outside it was getting really heavy so a road route back to the car came into plan. Still a good day out and a cracking night.

yep, i had a great ride yesterday 🙂 only 10 miles, but it was bloody cold in the peaks yesterday. Being able to see my breath was not what i had planned for the end of may to be honest bu it was good fun.

Started riding in the rain at 6pm yesterday.
It had stopped by the time I finished at 6am today. 😉

4/5 hours in the Surrey Hills. Fisrt couple of hours were quiet good raining, but just damped down the dust – hero grip time. Then it properly lashed it down and it turned into one of those horrible bike wrecking grit fests.

Can we ban bank holidays? That's 2 in a row I've got absolutely drenched on.

    Anyone else had a great day's riding…….

Pretty much. Was supposed to have been heading out over the South Downs yesterday but ended up on domestic duty – but managed to cash it in this morning and do a 45 mile road loop in perfect conditions. Only downer was seeing a roadie just after he'd crashed, but other than that it was tip top.

weather was spot on besides a spot of head wind here & there. sunnies all day 8). coming to the conclusion i need to invest in something slightly lighter than the 36lb Norco…

Road The Gap in the Brecon Beacons as part of an adventure race.

Damn it was windy on the top (that explains the name then) – the mountain rescue boys & girls were hiding in their Landy and the rain was horizontal.

    Corking descent though 😀
