Ah, must be the way the ply-lining is done make me think that.

Passenger side is usual for unloading onto a kerb rather than standing in the road when there is only one.

Yeah there is a side door. Shame there isn’t two though. I’d got quite used to chucking things in just before I got in the drivers side.

One of the Hiaces I saw actually was a private ambulance, and it still had the shelves and sliding platforms in it. Thought it’d make a good camper 😳

Anyone got any tips for lining the van?

It’s not going to be a camper, it’s a work/bike van..I removed the bulkhead yesterday and obviously it’s noisier.

I’d like to dampen down the noise a bit and insulate it at the same time for the odd night or two sleeping in it.

Do I need to go full vapour barrier or would just insulating behind the ply be good enough if it’s not sustained camping?

If you don’t need insulation and only want to quieten it down you can get stick on heavy foam dampening material and if you fix this to the panels between the ribs and then board over it will quieten down nicely.

    This sort of stuff

  • Should stop the panels vibrating and booming and give you an easier ride.

Cheers. Pricey ain’t it…

Would you worry about a vapour barrier if it’s only slept in occasionally?

If anyone searches in future for info, I can categorically state that an 8×4 does not fit in the back of a L2 new shape Connect with a bulkhead, despite what the Internet is saying.

Ask me how I know. 😤
(I had to buy a saw and cut a foot off in the car park)

Weird formatting here.

You could take it back to the dealer and complain but I suspect you now don’t have a leg to stand on

Is it just me the formatting has gone all weird above on the last 3 posts?

Did you try it flat on the floor and upright?

Just fits between the wheel arches flat, but too long. I’d read they would stand up diagonal corner to corner because the bulkhead tapers away from the side, but they really don’t.

Very good Mccruisekeen. 😁

I thought they were supposed to go in flat but sloping up to rest on the bulkhead & that was why the bulkhead was shaped like that?

no just you – goes all borked if you scroll upwards too. Its Tomaso’s fault I reckon. I’m digging the lovely italic serifed quoting though

Ah, now that would make sense. I never thought of that! 🤭
