I need a pack for some weekend rides, staying overnight in B&B-type places. I like the idea of being able to stick my lid on the outside, and the 3L reservoir sounds like enough. Price is about 90 quid. Should I go for it? Or are there some better options out there? What say you guys?

I was thinking of something bigger than the Mule’s 10L. I need clean socks for every day 🙂

Speak to Craig at Swinnertons[/url], I was in their last week and they have some new stuff from Camelbak that look bigger than my HAWG that would be ideal for what your after. I dont think they are on their website yet.

Will do that. Thanks. I reckon I need 25-35 litres, based on the old backpack I have now.

The Apex is a fantastic pack. Really big and all the storage is well thought out with compartments for everything. Bigger than a HAWG (which I have) and a lot better thought out. I would just get the APEX, it’s what I wished I had bought and what will replace my HAWG.

The apex is a great daysack, with lots of great features and soft lined phone ipod pockets, but it doesn’t sit on your back well if overfilled, so travel light!

i have an original apex, 36 440ml cans of carling to a festival, with spare clothes as well, the new one does have a reduced helmet capibility but mine has never, never, never, never let me down, best bag i have ever owned! oh apart from the fact its as water proof as a tea bag…………….

I don’t like the rain much, so the pack’s permeability isn’t much of a concern. But being able to carry that much beer is clearly a big plus. Thanks for the info guys.
