+1 for get out and ride. Just got employment after a 7 month ‘enforced holiday’.
Get down the job center, sign on and then set yourself targets and a routine. Try and remember not to pester any ‘nibbles’ you get, but be persistent!
Don’t rely on agents, they have their own agenda, and build upon your existing network of contacts in your field. Maybe its time to broaden your field of career interests too. Build variants of your CV to suit, so they are ready and waiting to post at a moments notice. I found it useful to build a spreadsheet and update it every evening (you can use this for evidence of job searching for the Job Center too)
Most companies these days don’t use generic agents, so go direct, and remember you are the only person fighting your corner!
