I’ve never owned an iPhone, it’s been Android all the way. I’m not fanatical about it, it’s just the way things have fallen.

The work Samsung A13 has been replaced with an iPhone SE V3.

I now need to transfer the contents of one phone to the other.

Android to Android is simple. Is there an easy way to do this in my situation? As an additional hurdle, I can’t add any apps to the A13, work has it locked down. No idea if I can add apps to the iPhone yet.

Did this last year going from a life of Android and switching to Apple, very easy to do

What “contents” do you need to transfer?

Does work not have a support department?

It’s quite easy, they’ve even improved the ability to transfer whatsapp: when i moved 2 years ago i “lost” all y old WhatsApp messages (albeit they’re still there if i ever moved back, not sure what will happen to the iPhone at that point). When we moved mrs nbt last summer, the transfer app actually worked and she’s retained her messages. Moving the other stuff was really easy in comparison, certainly as easy as previous Android phone swaps

Thanks all. Company IT support who posted the phone to me didn’t even manage to put the lid of the phone box back on. ??‍♀️

Hoping to move across WhatsApp, photos, videos and various files.

I’ve noticed that emoji aren’t working properly, but I’m wondering if the symbol at the end of the above quote isn’t a subtle reference to whoever left the lid off the box…

    *shrugs*, just saying, like…

Weird, it was a facepalm emoji.

If it’s locked down by the company I think you’ll be limited to what you can do but I would expect if you are going from one locked work phone to another they ought to have in place some means of doing this for you.

… is precisely why I asked.

WhatsApp should backup to itself, force a sync before you move the SIM across.

What “photos, videos and various files” do you actually need on your phone?  Are they not backed up elsewhere?  If not, they aren’t that important.  A phone is a transient device, you’re ducked for anything important which isn’t backed up the day it falls out of your pocket.

There’s lots of disorganised bits of info that you tend to pick up along the way. You know it will be useful to reference one day but there’s not really anywhere to record it centrally.

Followed the link above, but it needs an app downloaded which I can’t do.

Do I just have to take it on the chin that I’m going to lose a lot of stuff? Will make for an excellent excuse going forward. Even if I get it working, the iPhone is so tiny, I’ll probably not be able to make use of it anyway.

Again, what “stuff”?  Anything important should be backed up, what happens if you drop the phone down the bog tomorrow?  Your “disorganised bits” need to be organised bits.  That’s perhaps a conversation to have with IT.  Do you have OneNote?

You’re not going to lose anything unless it isn’t backed up and you have return the phone.

If it’s work IT then can you not just install OneDrive and then move it all there? I never have stuff just on my work phone as I always am likely to want it on another device too, it’s all on OneDrive, One Note, and Share point.
