Looking at a windproof gilet for MTB/gravel/running

    Want to spend <£30

Altura airstream looks good. How does it size up,? I’m 188cm and 78kg  so probs a medium

    Any alternatives under £30

I had a previous version of the Airstream and really liked it, but I shredded it when I caught it on some barbwire one time. They’re very thin but that was one of the reasons they were so good. I’m 181cm tall and about 78kg and have found Altura medium tops to fit well.

I couldn’t find a decent gilet, so bought a full Altura top for £26 and got the local tailor to cut the arms off and sew for £10. It works really well and is much better than most standard gilets.

If you’re OK with a hi Vis one I’ve got one of these for commuting and it’s fine.

I really like the Decathalon one, which is £29 I think.

I’m still on the lookout for a thin softshell gilet like my old Aussie Grit, rather than rustly plastic material like my Rapha core gilet.

Is the airstream softshell or ‘rustly’ shell?

Airstream is quite ‘rustly.’ Easily fits in back pocket though – I needed mine yesterday morning for the last half hour of a ride as it was chillier then I anticipated.

Decathlon is my first choice but stock is limited at the minute
