All my biking mates now have better bikes than me….

…is the challenge to…

a) stealthily buy a bike and hope my gf, to whom I’m getting married next year doesn’t notice?
b) stick with my current bike but just ride more than them so I remain better than them?
c) relax on the ride and use the bike as an excuse for mincing?

Try getting a new bike by stealth.
Just upgrade bits on current bike until you have all the parts needed except frame
Then catch future mrs with…. All I need is the frame

Worked for me and she didn’t suds how much I really spent

Just ride have fun, who cares what bike you ride as long as it works and your fitness is good.

This philosophy was what landed me in houswork for a month earlier this year!

(I however still have the bike & craftily avoid the dishes thus proving said theory is perfectly feasible)

I’d love to have friends blingier and faster than me. I still have fun on the downhills, have excuses uphill and there’s nobody else to slow you down.

Also, get fitter trying to keep up with them and then either you’re all the same speed or you eventually get a new bike and destroy them 😀

Some of my mates have worse bikes than me (I’m be genious, mine is way better than most of them and at least a bit better than the rest 🙂 ).

But I would gladly give it up to be able to climb and decend as well as best of them do.

Dont think I built to make them jealous, just in a very fortunate position that when I upgrade I buy the stuff that magazines (and the STW massive) convince me I need to try and gain a few yards on them.

Easy for me to say, but its not what you ride its how you ride it.

The fact you ride better than them is why they upgraded their bikes in the first place.

B is the best solution but you may want to bling a few bits up, just to make you feel happier.

Let’s face it pook I’d rather be sacrificing buying a posh bike to marry a great woman.

Most STW’ers are single or angry in their relationships and own many bikes.
