Behind this mud is 3 vents that cool the motor. Basically it just lets in  lots of muck in then gets totally blocked up.

I can’t do anything about the mud on the front but if I tape the vents up from inside to stop water and muck ingress will I be causing things to heat up too much?

I guess the air intake isn’t going to be much use if I’m crawling up a huge hill in turbo at 2 mph.

I put moto foam between my plastic cover and the motor on an orbea wild fs to stop mud accumulating, I’ve had it like that for a couple of years with no ill effect, so ‘d imagine you’d be fine.

I’ve seen vids on embn showing them being taped up for winter. Still need to do it myself as I’m taking the plastic guard off every couple of rides to clear the mud

Can you not get a bash guard if they make them for that bike and drill a load of small holes in it that will let less mud through, but still some air – obvs when it’s caked up it won’t let any through, but for the rest of the time….

These motors are built for use in different climates worldwide, perhaps it’s not really necessary in the UK most of the time.

IIRC some bikes/motors reduce power when the motor gets a bit hot, so you could try and find out. If they’re blocked with mud anyway, you blocking up by other means shouldn’t make much difference. If the bike connects to an app, maybe you can check the temperature in there to compare.

Just fill them with expanding foam

You wouldn’t like it done to you! 😀

Must be a reason the motor design has been changed and the vents are now on the sides out of the way of such filth
