yes, not exactly dress watches! Cooler than a G shock though

I really don’t get the whole Tonka-toy watch thing, unless it’s laced with irony.

each to their own, I don’t get the ‘slim and delicate’ watch thing either…

At least you’ve got the good sense to understand how shite G-shocks look 😀

not even for those with slim wrists?

WTF is a ‘slim wrist’? You mean like a lady’s wrist?

Thanks to ditch_jockey for the Creation Watches link. This arrived yesterday.

Need to take it to a jewellers and get the strap shortened, but I like it a lot. Didn’t get charged tax/import duty either, so excellent news there.

Question, I cannot get the bezel to screw shut as it should do according to the manual, any tips? It should push down and screw in clockwise and lock, but I can’t seem to get it to lock.

Do you mean the crown(the winder)? The bezel is the bit around the outside of the face that turns. The Bezel does not lock, it just turns.

If you mean the crown I don’t think Seiko 5s actually have screw in crowns. Your watch looks like a SNZF17K. If you google you should be able to find the specs.

    BTW great value watches 🙂

Is the bezel supposed to lock? It’ll turn one way, but not the other just so that you don’t run out of air.

I’ll go for this one. I like the style and I think it will fit on my fashion.

Just ordered one of these, wanted one for a while, but you need a chunky wrist to carry it off

That Braun watch is lovely. Shame it doesn’t have a metal strap (I don’t like fabric/leather straps as they always seem to fall apart or just smell..)

Sorry crown, not bezel, wrong terminology

Damn you STW! Just ordered a Seiko 5 from Creation.

Anyone know of a good place to get a leather strap for it?

    must…not…buy…another…watch!
I do like watches but don’t like to spend daft money on them. The ones I wear the most are a MR G titanium G Shock that is +15 years old, a titanium Polar, a titanium Seiko Samurai, a titanium….. do you see a pattern forming 😀
I do have a couple of Seiko Monsters, a couple more G-Shocks, a Toy Watch, a couple of Tags and a few more bits and pieces. A few of them I’ve bought second hand (pardon the pun) but they were all in ‘as new condition. I think I will have a rationalisation at some point and buy some nice understated ‘bling’ but atm I like having options 😀
I like the 5 Diver above though, very nice. Simple, purposeful and practical.

Ordered from Creation Watches Wednesday night. Watch just arrived at work, 36 hours later, from Singapore. Excellent!

Drat, I am now considering a new watch. I sold my seamaster as I didn’t get enough use out of it (worrying about scratching it etc).

By the look of it, you can get something really nice for £150-200 2nd hand.

Anyone know any good watch sites that specialize in the cheaper and unusual brands?

What you want is the Tonka-tastic Nixon 51-30

For the love of God don’t get a Nixon, bloody awful build quality! I have 2 with broken straps an the second had it’s battery replaced this year and now has moisture behind the glass, but as the strap is shot I just can’t be bothered to get it dealt with.

My next watch will be a Bell&Ross, it may just be a very long time till I get another watch!

    Because it has

a helium escape valve which opens when the internal pressure is higher than the external pressure.

Which will be awesomely useful if it rains hard or you fall in a puddle

2 years into my Nixon and it hasn’t missed a beat. Strap is ripped a little though, but 2 years of muddy biking hasn’t caused it much issue, including one particular big off that resulted in a small dent in the bezel.

This is very good quality, they have deployment clasps on the website also and they really extend the life of the strap
