Just checking that 700c slicks will fit my 29er? Any recommendations?

I’m so sick of the mud I’m turning the MTB into a road bike for a while.

    Cheers.

Just don’t go for anything too narrow if you’ve got MTB-width rims on there and you should be fine.

Stick CX tyres on and you’re good for on and off road.
Spesh Borough would be a roadier choice.

given that most 700c wheels with cx tyres will fit 26″ mtb I think you’ll be fine, as above rim width will be a bigger concern.

I have two sets of slicks that i’ve run on my 29ers, one a set of Spesh Borough CX tyres 700x42c and my current favourite Scwalbe Big Apples 2.35″ which are ace and just plough through everything on the roads. They are on my Fargo at the moment and it’s fab.

I prefer the look of the fatter tyres but i guess the Spesh ones probably rode a bit faster and lighter.

    what width rim.

    I’d be running 28/32C as a minimum.

I run 32s on my ‘commuter’ with 29er wheels. I think for my rims even 28s would be too narrow. Works fine though, as you’d expect.

I looked this up on the Schwable website. My 19mm arch rims will work down to 28mm. To go narrower than that would need 17mm rims.
