Anybody tried both? Is the Blue Pig worth the extra dosh? Going to be using a pair of fixed length Pikes and I gather that the Ragley has been designed around a 140mm fork but would they be all right on a 456? Comments welcome!!

"140mm fork but would they be all right on a 456?"
The clue is in the name ..

456 is suitable for 4", 5" or 6" forks (so 100-150mm)

It's very difficult for me to objectively discuss the two frames really, so perhaps I shouldn't?

The 456 is a killer buy at £125, no doubt.

The Blue Pig is my evolution of thinking on hardtails, from the last year and a bit of riding quite technical trails, which started with the Summer Season project, and evolved through the implications of the CEN frame tests which are a new standard to aim for (and exceed).

The Blue Pig was designed, largely to ride up hills really well, with a nice forward position, keeping the front end pinned, and a nice pedalling position, and to hammer down hills with a nice stability from a slacker head angle and a sensible BB height.

Bimbling along the flat wasn't really taken into account so if you do that, then perhaps it's not the bike for you.

Thanks for considering 2 of my designs.

I'm thinking of these two basically because I don't want to spend too much dosh and they need to be able to handle ok with 140mm forks, but feel free to recommend any others.

cant comment on the 456 as i've never ridden one, but i think the blue pig is ace, one of the main reasons i bought mine was the uphill advantages, i was sick of the front end wandering on my old bike, it hasn't happened yet with the pig. Worth an extra £135?

Thanks for your imput Brant, blimey I didn't think I'd be dealing with the frames designer, isn't the internet great!!!and thanks for the others for their replies!
TBH I'm not really that bothered about the price difference,£260 for the Blue Pig isn't going to plunge me into poverty!!
Wors-I must confess I quite enjoy a good techy singletrack climb like CwmCarn or the start of Whites at Afan so want a bike that's not going too hard to keep in a straight line but want one that's going to be fun on the decents as well!
