    Vango Banshee 200 or Wild Country Zephyros 2 for 6ft bloke touring

    So far I’m not liking that the Zeph doesn’t have a proper bathtub, but is a bit lighter.

    Any other experiences with these tents?

    Bought myself a Vango Force 10 Helium 200 just before Christmas. Haven’t used it yet but looks like it should do the trick. Good quality, very light and not stupid money if you shop around.

    Another Force Ten Helium 200 owner here, cracking little tent, very spacious for me and Ladybadger (I’m 6ft and she’s 5’9 and a half*) for a tent of its class so should be loads of room if it’s just you – maybe look at the 100 too?

    *The half is very important apparently.

    Also over 6′ and had a few 2 man Vangos in the past including the Banshee and Tempest. Had a 2 man Zephyros for last two years and it is much better imho. Lack of bathtub never been a problem as the groundsheet does come up a bit naturally the way it sits. More packable for backpacking and bikepacking and easy to put up. Survived a few overnights some terrible conditions in the wind and rain up high in the Scottish hills and lived to tell the tale.

    Terra nova solar 2. Weighs about 1kg. Perfect for touring 1 up. That’s what I did. I’m 6’3″ and fitted fine. It is not cheap but when I bought it, it was the lightest freestanding 2 man tent manufactured. It has stood up to some v strong winds in the north of Scotland easily. It was perfect for me and my panniers which could be stored inside the rent.

    Definitely the Zephyros. How much are you spending? Some stunning two man tents here.

    6’5″ here, me and my seven year old can manage in a Banshee 200.

    I’ve got a Banshee 200 for motorcycle touring, and I’m over 6 foot.

    Getting dressed is a bit of an arse, but that’s be be expected in a tent this size. Other than that, it’s been fine in all sorts of weather (not deepest winter mind) and fit on the back of my GSXR fine.

    Actually, ignore all I said. I had a Banshee 200 and found it hateful and swapped it for a Tempest 200. All of what I wrote above applies to the Tempest. Got a bit mixed up as it was a while ago I bought them.

    Due to the design of the Banshee, my feet touched the roof at the end. Plus I didn’t like the side entrance, and the Tempest, being a tunnel design, is easier to put up on your own in foul weather.

    Banshee is OK, but does have the weaknesses outlined above. I think it would be more of a problem if taller than 5’10”. Have had two blokes sharing it for a few nights though while touring/walking, so it’s doable if not comfy. I wouldn’t want to be cooking or living in it though

    Just re read your post. At 6ft I wouldn’t recommend the banshee. Vango though I’d happily stick with

    I’m also 6ft and have a Banshee 200. It is a bit short and due to the slope of the walls, can be a bit of a struggle. I reckon that the blade 200 might be a bit better due to the curved pole. They are slightly heavier, but only £72 quid at go outdoors.

    +1 for tadpole. I’m 6′ & 220lbs and it fits me perfectly one up. Excellent kit, longest stint was 5 nights in it on the trot moving every night wild camping in shite weather and it help up.

    Terra Nova Laser Photon or Competition 2, you can usually pick a really good one for almost half the rrp on ebay.One sold tonight on ebay for circa £220 !

    +1 for the North Face Tadpole 2. Spent the best part of 2 months in it while touring Europe and i’m 6ft 3. When stretched right out my feet would touch the fabric but wasn’t difficult to avoid this. Also compared to my mates Lightwave 2 man, i’d say the build quality is better going by the nights he’d swear about the rain getting in.

    If you actually want a nice light 1 man tent with plenty of room look at the tarptent scarp1. At 6’2″ it is the only 1 man tent I have ever found that actually works as a tent rather than a coffin, and I have tried a few.
