I've seen some remarkably inexpensive wetsuits online, Aquasphere Pursuit - less than £100 in some places.

I found a reviewer who reckoned it was decent - anyone have any experience? Also, is it a good idea to buy online from a size chart?

what do you want it for, and where and when will you be wearing it, asking as warmth is related to fit (and to suit thickness/material) to body(and fit of 'holes'), seams - you might want blind stitched and you might want glued and taped, zips can be zip, semi dry or dry, and depending on sport zip placement can matter. You can pad with a rash vest.

(I now buy online but that's on makes I've used before)

Triathlon, Scotland, Mid Sept. At first, anyway. I expect it'll get used all over the place. The bloke in the Tri shop in Bristol said that warmth wasn't much of an issue.

ah, did wonder, I was coming from a windsurf/surfing background, make sure it's a triathalon suit then as other suits can be crap for swimming in (arm movement can be restricted etc), given the workrate I'd probably agree about the warmth etc, I'd suspect that a good fit will swim better though - what is their returns policy ?.

All depends what you are using if for and the length of time you will be in it at a time.

If you are wearing it when it is cold , for more than an hour or moving a lot in it I would go and try on numerous suits from several makers and styles. The fit is important if you are wearing if for several hours or when you need to keep warm

As they say, Fit is everything. slightly too small and you won't be able to move. Slightly too big and it will suck up water and weigh you down. That's before you get to arm flexibility, and working out if you need more or less leg buoyancy.
Best bet is always to try them on first.
also visit Tritalk.co.uk - LOADS in their about everything Tri.

Have a look at http://www.dive-board.co.uk/ for prices, the guy who runs it is a thoroughly good egg.

all suits fit differently. i'm ideal in a large rip curl whereas billabong in large is all over the place. i'll happily buy rip curls online but any other brand no way, so unless you know the suit fits don't do it.

oh, and i could name and shame an online wetsuit retailer on tghe south coast who's utter lack of customer service is beyond a joke.

Well yeah, it would seem highly appropriate to try them on first, but it looks like most shops only carry one brand? The only place I know that does tri suits is in Bristol and their cheapest was £250, whereas this Aquasphere one has an excellent review, seems perfect and is only £120 at most.

Wetsuit fit is very personal. I'd not buy one (and I've got 6 I think) without trying it on first. Mind, if you can return it if it's not right, then what's to worry?
I guess you've researched the different seams, lined / smoothskin, closers etc to know what you're after, and this suit fits it?

Just a thought, if warmth isn't an issue, why's anyone wearing a suit?

Only prob with returns is, unless its free returns, you pay. Just cost me .90p to return a tiny bit of lycra, a wetsuit would be nearer 10quid (2 to 4kg packet is 8.80).

Because he is buying a triathlon wetsuit to wear in a triathlon race and apart from being a requirement in most UK races, it also makes most non elite swimmers significantly faster than not wearing one.

I'd be asking this on a triathlon forum, not a mtb one. More experience of what you are after and the pitfalls of buying online and whom you should consider buying from.
