Not sure how big the ven diagram is between mountain bikers and people who love pavement but this is excellent. This guy recorded over 30,000 gigs in Chicago including early nirvana shows and they've been slowly uploading them , about 2000 so far I think . Currently listening to a sebadoh gig from 2002 , pretty good sound quality as well .
Bloody hell, this is quite something! Goodbye, rest of today.
Oh wow, this is going to take me months 🙂
great post. Some bands on there i'd forgotten about.
Only listened to one so far but the sound quality is really good .
I remember getting bootlegs in the 80s/90s from RAT records in Glasgow and they where obviously recorded from behind the bar as you could hear people ordering drinks
There's only one Husker Du gig from 1984 and the sound quality is NOT good 🤣
No Bob or Sugar either 😥
There's 2 gigs on there from alaska! Who I saw support the folk implosion in Glasgow around 2003 who I got really into for 6 months but then haven't thought about for 20 years . There's stuff from bands like the go team and super furry animals as well . An REM gig from 86 , not even a massive fan but interesting to listen to .
They've only put up a small percentage of his recordings so far so loads more to come

Which gig? I've not struck lucky yet... I've tried a few and the quality was awful.
Some are definitely better than others , apparently it depended on where he was standing. A replacements one is pretty poor but was just listening to kennedy by the wedding present and its good enough to get a feeI of the energy of the live performance. Ithink its more of an archive and an interesting listen rather than something for hifi enthusiasts.

I can see six Husker Du concerts but no Sugar or Bob.
Lots of other good stuff - thanks OP!
If you open the WinAmp player you can tweak the sound with the equaliser.
And you can download all the files too!
Curiosity got the better of me, too busy listening to new music, but had a listen to The Faint, who I saw back in the early 2000s - sound quality surprisingly good. And the Sugarcubes -not bad but Einar's shouting mostly drowned Bjork out. Nice thing to dip into occasionally. Cheers!
(Sound quality of the Nirvana one from '89 is pretty good)
I wonder if any of us has ever seen this person, I recall one guy with mics taped onto each arm of his glasses so he could record in stereo, he was dead centre at whatever gig it was too, not that I can remember which one it was.
There used to be a ridiculously comprehensive website (Dimeadozen?) that collated torrents of bootleg recordings. You could find a recording of pretty much any gig you cared to mention.
This is exactly what I always hoped the internet would be for. I've done NOTHING today. Wonderful.
The Godspeed archive on that site is massive - over 800 gigs, most with excellent quality. Great resource as none of their music is available on the main streaming sites any more, afaik.

🤣🤣🤣
Einar, the shouty bloke, has always put me off the Sugarcubes! He’s more irritating than a bluebottle trapped in your bedroom at night! Always loved Björk, though.

Just checked, as I have seven of their albums on my Apple Music library, and they’re all greyed out, so yes, they’ve been removed. I’d be interested to know why that’s happened.
Ooh! Some Fugazi. Also Jesus and Mary Chain.
Listened to some Delgados and aerogramme who were bands I saw quite a few times in Glasgow in the early 2000s and the sound is good . Listening to all this stuff is making me feel quite nostalgic ...and old 😀
Good spot, some interesting stuff buried in the list.

It was sparked by several bands taking their stuff of spotify last year in response to the companies investment profile. I think Efrim must just have said fk it, the streaming model sucks so let's go all the way, but he has not commented publicly on the reasons afaik. It's all available on bandcamp to buy. The Silver Mt Zion stuff is still streamed, at least it's on yt music right now.
They are very established and critically untouchable, so have earned the freedom to do what they want. Harder for a younger band to do this.
