Did you get one @tallpaul?

Still showing as available to buy for me?

Yes, thank you. Logging on at 07:30 was probably unnecessary 😆

So, although I think the Ferrari is ugly, I just bought it! First time I've ever bought a model on release day - I feel like a proper Technic groupie now! Not allowed it til the end of the month as it's a birthday present, but that's ok, can't wait to build it and add it to the collection... 🙂

Saw the transformer in store today, a lot smaller than I expected. Saw the Ferrai as well, bit like Cougar, not sure I like it. I just bought some pick and mix.

I was in two minds about the Ferrari, but there’s just something about the way the sides are built that I can’t get past.

@spacemonkey

Am in two minds about that Ferrari. It’s nice but I reckon another model would have been better. Not for me at £350.

Never really was a Transformers fan. Lots of friends were and I had a version of OP. I think the Lego rendition is a solid build, but doesn’t do anything for me.

The Delorean arrived a few days ago and is tucked away for a rainy day. Also picked up the NASA shuttle 1/2 priced BNIB

Where did you pick up the shuttle for 1/2 price, that’s one I’ve been on the lookout on a deal for a while?

I know what you mean. I like it from some angles but let so from others. I think it was RacingBrick who ripped it apart in one of his vids. If I could throw money around I'd get it, but I can't justify £350.

FB Marketplace last week. I got lucky with the timing because it had only been posted 15 minutes prior so I was first to ping her. AFOL who admitted she'd never have the time to build it.

How do people not have time to build kits? I have to slow myself down and make them last a few days.

I’d love more time to potter around with Lego, but it has to compete with so many other commitments. As for this particular seller, she’d started a new job and no longer had any spare time.

Two young kids, (currently) 3 busy jobs, and general life admin (shopping, cleaning, bills, maintenance/repairs, exercise, career, etc) mean that on an average week I have about 7-10 hours free. I'm currently sat on:

UCS A-wing,
UCS Landspeeder,
UCS Tie Fighter,
UCS X-Wing Red 5,
UCS Imperial Shuttle,
UCS(~) Guardians ship,
UCS(~) Space Shuttle Discovery.

...and probably a host of other things I've forgotten!

The last kit I built was the Technic Defender with my son.

Daffy has it, was in Rogue One as well, I'll get some pics up once it's done, been quite a quick build, only about 6 months so far, wheels took a couple of months, think there are about 150 pieces in each one.

+1 Light my Bricks

General consensus is that they're pricey, and not always easy to fit, especially if retro-fitting, but the quality is top dollar as is durability and longevity.

Lego's now added a Camara Z28 to their list. 1458 pieces, £150 - so is that a bit of a bargain, or an oversimplified con?

Pile of bits and build, no forward plan generally.

Getting close now, waiting for some pieces to turn up.

@sweaman2 it's like any other hobby couple hours here, couple hours there, I can go months without touching the stuff (i can kick the habit whenever I want). Ebay is a good source of cheap pieces, had 1.6Kg of grey pieces delivered today, cost £12 plus postage.

Thanks for the reminder. I’ve got an F40 (40th bday present - ahem - 5 yes ago) and a Saturn 5 that I guess really belongs to the kids that would both benefit from some cool lighting. I think I now know that this years Xmas / bday present requests will be.

It's looking like the Autumn (Fall) Star Wars UCS release will be a 6000+ piece Razors Crest from the Mandalorian. 75331.

Possibly something like this MOC.

Anyone need a 42096 Porsche 91 RSR? Boxed, with instructions. Nice little technic project I built with my boy. Will come fully dismantled ready to build. Currently £120 on Amazon (cheapest I could find) but I got it a few months ago for less than that. The going rate seems to be about £70-90 on Ebay. £55 inc postage on here?

Just had a email saying I've been at my company for 5 years and to click here to redeem my gift; I thought it would be a pen or something similar but no. 550pts to buy from a very very long list of goods including Lego.

Just ordered the new Lego Technic Batmobile....nice. best ever long service award (not the 5 years is that long!).

I would have gone for Dom's Dodge Charger but my boy wants that for his birthday.

Having just completed building the Ford F-150 and Batmobile I’ve really got a taste for Lego building again.

Just found quite a few videos on YouTube on how to motorise the cars and I love the idea for the F-150; that would be really cool.

I’d also like to improve the front steering as the wheels just deflect outwards, needs a front stiffener to the axle connector.

The likelyhood is it'll be very slow. The LR model is heavy. I've motorized the similar sized rally car from a few years ago with two L motors and a buwizz. This model is much lighter and it's still very slow. Also had to do a significant about of work to minimise wind up in the transmission.

Not a want of the day, just recommending the Brick Experiment Channel on Youtube. Famous for the GOOGOL:1 reduction gear lego build posted here before.

Liked this latest video that came up in my suggestions, some of them I knew, some I didn't, but great to show children about mechanical principles:

I got the new Galaxy Explorer too, it's lovely.

I never got the original Galaxy Explorer as a kid, though I did have a few of the big Space Lego sets, including its replacement, the Galaxy Commander. I managed to find one on eBay for a decent price a few years ago though so I now have both the old and new Galaxy Explorers on my shelves (plus Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIIP!). 🙂

PSA: Lego Ferrari Daytona SP3 now £235-ish at both Argos and Amazon (RRP £389).

The BMW M 1000 motorbike also £121 (RRP £215).

Note that both require voucher for the extra 10% off. LEGO10 at Argos.

hey folks...

My old man dropped round a crate of my old lego from his loft a month or so back. I have finally started sorting it out. I had the instructions to the Lego Pirate castle, so sifted through it all and managed to rebuild it (instructions from 1989 are not what they are today!).

I managed to find all bar 3 pieces.

My intention was to rebuild it and maybe sell it. But have no idea what value it would have. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated!

A few pics....

@v7fmp - have a look on bricklink for the set number. You'll be able to see what the complete sets are listed for WRT condition.

@hannahjayy - THIS is the issue with a lot of the BIG Star Wars kits - they're simply too big to put anywhere unless you have lots of free space in a house.

I think this is why you see so many of the Millennium Falcon and Star Destroyer kits on ebay.

I've got a UCS Razor Crest here for a Christmas build. 🙂

The stand for the Star Destroyer really irritates me. The Destroyer is supposed to be level across the top of the hull line, but the stand mounts to the frame of the Destroyer at the middle, so it forces the nose down. I had to modify mine - I couldn't look at it without scowling.

Yeah I have both a Star Destroyer and UCS Falcon, both of which are too big to hang like the rest of my Star Wars models so I think I will sell them soon. The other option was to try vertical wall mount, but I haven't been brave enough yet.

Also try Brickowl, I prefer the site layout.

I built my own star destroyer, it was about 5 feet long, couldn't get it out of the garage (too heavy) but was told bluntly it wasn't coming in the house so had to dismantle it.

Want the Razor Crest for Christmas but not idea where it's going to go. Building the AT AT at the moment, had about 60% of the parts and managed to source the rest for under £300 which is not bad when RRP is over £700.

I managed to get the Razor Crest brand new, but from ebay the day after release for £380, still sealed. I figure that due to inflation and the exchange rate, there's a good chance that it'll go UP next year as both the Falcon and the Star Destroyer have, so wanted to get in early. AT-AT doesn't really do it for me, I'm like that little LEGO astronaut guy from the LEGO Movie - "SPACESHIP!"

My Falcon is sitting next to me in the office. I've bought a stand for it, but I've now realised I'm going to have to chop up a set of shelves to fit the bloody thing in. It's huge.

The only other option would be to mount it vertically on the wall... but that scares me!

@:v7fmp, I had that exact set! If you can find the minifigs some of the pirate ones are in demand- I can't remember if your set is one of these but there's at least a few sets from that range and that timescale where there were totally unique figures- I think maybe one of the captains or governors? And so they're pretty pricey.
