Far be it from me to conspire, but can we believe it? Could it be a tactic to keep him from further displaying his debating skills? You couldn't tell him to pipe down, so you tell him he's symptomless because he's such a perfect specimen and then keep him out of the way whilst he makes his miraculous recovery. The Republican Party (or Democratic Party, if Biden or Harris are incapacitated) will vote to appoint a new candidate. It is too late to change the ballots because voting has already started, but the Electoral College electors (who are appointed by the states) can be instructed to vote for a replacement candidate of the same party. If Trump dies, it's pretty much guaranteed that Mike Pence would be selected to take over at the top of the ticket and the election would continue as normal. If both Trump and Pence died, it would be a shitshow, with every loony right-wing nutjob fighting to be selected. My money would be on a Sean Hannity-Tucker Carlson ticket.

I would go for it being real. He is an idiot who has been encouraging his supporters to put themselves and others at risk. Whilst the secret service will do their best to protect him from his stupidity they can only do so much especially against something they cant shoot.
