It’s too hot for anything. Apart from FGF!
But it’s certainly too hot to think of anything worthwhile to put here. So let’s just get on with it shall we, and then go for a Solero?

Thule OutWay Rear Mount 2 Bike Carrier
- Price: ยฃ379.99
- From: Freewheel

Maybe it’s an age thing, but I seem to have lost the willingness and the ability to put bikes in the backs of cars anymore. After being very impressed by Thule’s 945 Easyfold towbar rack on a biggish car, I thought I’d see what was on offer for dinky drivers out there. So here’s the OutWay. Features: independently adjustable arms (to accommodate unusual frame designs, ‘AcuTight’ torque limiting tightening system that clicks when optimal torque is reached, all contact points are rubber lined, you can still open the boot with the rack attached (probably not a great idea with any bikes still attached, mind). Also available in 3 bike versions. NB: maximum weight of 30kg.
Giro Chamber TR Shoes
- Price: ยฃ184.99
- From: Giro UK

Our Aran – he of the much-liked State Of Enduro reports – has threatened to go clipless. Based on the same tri-molded DH platform as the Chamber, this all-new Chamber Trail is intended to offer a lighter feel and enhanced ventilation, without sacrificing any power pedal transfer. Thus, enduro. The shoes feature: microfibre upper, mesh ventilation, BOA single Li2 machined aluminium dial, TPU toe and heel protection, ankle cuff, Giro’s ‘Sensor’ rubber outosle, +10mm cleat setback. Also available in not-white (but don’t tell Aran that).
POC Coron Air Mips MTB Helmet
- Price: ยฃ300.00
- From: POC

Over to you POC: “Developed using POC’s Whole Helmet Concept to deliver superior levels of comfort, fit and performance, the helmet is optimised for all-day use. Defined ventilation channels ensure airflow is maximised at both low and high speeds, giving comfort and coolness whether riding with or against gravity. The inclusion of Mips in the full-face helmet works to improve overall rotational impact protection. Specially formed ear chambers are designed to minimise the negative effect on balance and hearing associated with wearing a full-face helmet. A fibreglass shell and a multi-impact EPP liner provide impact protection and durability while maintaining a low weight.” Have to say, I didn’t fancy wearing this all-day today. Scorchio!
Shimano Low Viscosity Oil
- Price: ยฃ29.99 (500ml)
- From: Freewheel

One of the final (hopefully!) pieces of the puzzle that has been my Cannondale Bad Habit build. New Shimano brakes won’t work with ‘old’ Shimano mineral oil. It’s not runny enough. This orange stuff is the er, stuff. What else is left to sort out on Bad Habit build? A freehub body. It’s always the wrong freehub body. And probably a rotor. And a brake mount adapter.
Aenomaly SwitchGrade Pro
- Price: ยฃ175.00
- From: Windwave

I unashamedly freaking love the SwitchGrade. Like I said in the review of the SwitchGrade Pro, “If you think you need one, you need one.” And the opposite is true; you (or your rather you bike) very probably don’t need this product. Anyways, it’s an on-the-fly saddle tilter doohicky. Nose down for climbs, tail down for super steep descents (it gives your crotch a bit more room over the rear tyre), level for everything else. This new SwitchGrade Pro initially sounds like Aenomaly has jumped the shark; it offers eight(!) saddle angle positions. But you’re not expected to use all eight. There are front and rear limit screws that can be placed anywhere along the ‘rotation path’ to control forward and rearward tilt range. So somewhere amongst those eight settings will be the two or three that you desire. Shut off the rest.
Aiyima T3 Phono Tube Preamp
- Price: ยฃ27 ish
- From: eBay

Partly inspired by having a teenage offspring who is interested in all thing pre-digital (vinyl records, film cameras etc) I finally replaced my olde worlde not-soldered-repaired-very-well-by-me phono preamp with this steampunk rocker from eBay. Look! Blue LEDs and everything! As is tradition, the record of choice for testing was the German pressing of the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange. The opening noise of the record (and film) is still amazingly ominous init.

That amp needs to be wafted with a duster.
What NAD amp is that? My 3020i is still going strong & must be 33 years old or thereabouts.
Explains the pube 😀
The Aenomaly SwitchGrade Pro… I stared at it for a minute or two wondering what it was before reading the description….
Should I wait for the Di2 version with remote tilt function for ยฃ600….
Maybe I’m not their target audience.
