I'm pretty conflicted about this.
On one hand, his decision to launch a second investigation into Hilary's emails just before the election seemed like a transparently partisan move - and justified an inquiry in itself. Particularly now that it turns out this "new" evidence was complete rubbish. Grounds for dismissal in itself IMO.
On the other hand, Trump firing the guy investigating him is outrageous. If there was nothing in "the Russian allegations" why would he fire the guy now (and invite all the criticism that this would bring)? justice for Hillary? Ha!
I can't quite see how this can be viewed as anything other than a blatant attempt by trump to derail the Russia investigation.... be interesting to hear what the rationale for removing him was, other that the incredibly bland "not able to effectively lead".
agreed batfink, his praise for him at the time for dropping the allergation is damming now. Like anything it's great when you agree, the wrod from even the Clinton camp is they are appaled by the decison, many are calling for a full statement from him as to where his is in the Russia probe to congress/senate inquireys so that that information is not "lost"
Oh and a gift here with an interview on Fox News....
I think the bigger point on that is, “My gosh, Tucker, when are they gonna let that go?” It’s been going on for nearly a year. Frankly, it’s kinda getting absurd. There’s nothing there. We’ve heard that time and time again. We’ve heard it in the testimonies earlier this week. We’ve heard it for the last 11 months. There is no there there. It’s time to move on.

Has anyone got the document shredding gif from Devils Advocate?
If Kelly Anne Conway says "It's nothing to do with Russia" Than I think pretty much everyone can see why Coney was fired.
So if there is no Russia connection I presume Trump and his inane followers on here would have non issue with an independent investigation. Bawbags must have some pretty big things to hide if he's getting this desperate.
Comedy was always going to get thrown under the bus
His fake news email leaks pretty much handed trump the win, Trump fans on here and in the alt-right were jumping up and down with indignation at the time
This was obviously getting too close to Trump another of his senior staff lying to a senate hearing this time about the fake news than won him an election.....
How will the FBI handle it? he's managed to piss off the CIA, NSA and now them.
It was a disgruntled FBI chief that was Nixons deepthroat
If it looks like a duck, it sounds like a duck, even smells like a duck then is got to be a massive cover up!
The comparisons with Nixon are so predictable and obvious that Trumps team must either be stupid or have something serious to hide. Its not going to go well now for Putin, Trump will need to prove he's not Moscow's man and make some sort of stand against them. "See I nucked Russia, I'm not a Putin puppet, Bigly".
The decision is undoubtedly the correct one, it just happens to be entirely convenient for Trump's team as well. The bloke had no friends left in Washington after his antics during the election, and Hillary would have fired him as one of her first acts as president.
They may come to regret not allowing him to resign with dignity rather than find out about his sacking on the television mid-meeting.
The key thing will be who they shoehorn into the job. I'm guessing it will someone relatively inexperienced who perhaps will be more pliable to pressure from the White House.
But on that logic. Sessions has to go too
Ha ha ha, logic has no place here.
I'm guessing it will someone relatively inexperienced who perhaps will be more pliable to pressure from the White House.
Eric trump? Baron? Ivana?
That under creepy nazi bloke- Gorka ?
Guilliani?
Alex Jones? 😯
But on that logic. Sessions has to go too
Well, no...
You're misconstruing the logic.
To borrow from Saint Margaret on the subject of Monty Python: "This Jeff Sessions - is he one of us?"
And there we have the quacking like a duck. Shame the Senate and Congress have a bit more power here.
who the **** drafted the letter ?
I liked how even when sacking someone Trump cant help but talk about himself.
This has to be one of the worst handled sackings I've ever seen (since my old HR guy fired someone on "wear PJs to work" day, looking like Arthur Dent).
How will the FBI handle it? he's managed to piss off the CIA, NSA and now them.

The orange faced, small handed oaf is definitely pissing on his own doorstep now.
Eric trump? Baron? Ivana? That under creepy nazi bloke- Gorka ?
Guilliani?
US writers are mentioning Guilliani, bizarrely.
I suppose he clearly has excellent FBI contacts - he was the one who went on the shows a couple of days before the FBI pre-voting announcement on investigating Hillary and gave a nod and a wink that something momentous would happen to turn things around for Trump.
He'd certainly shut any investigation right down.
I wonder how Roger Stone the key link in the Trump/Tussia investigation handled the news of comeys sacking
https://twitter.com/StoneColdTruth/status/862068406245261313
apparently he had absolutely not been lobbying trump to have Comey sacked 😉
Is all this really happening? Is it just a bad reality tv series gone wrong?
Would comparing today's little Trumpism to a Stalinist purge, be a tad over the top? or not?
Trump, Putin, May. Just a bunch of arrogant sods pleasing themselves.
Hlarious that he sacked Comey the day the Russians were visiting the Whitehouse
Lavrov trolling the shit out of Trump & Tillerson saying @has he been sacked, youre kidding'
and It embarrasses the USA not Russia
I think we can see who the boss is here
also how much spray tan??

If your press secretary is literally hiding in bushes to avoid the press then you can assume you're not doing a good job.
I see he's lost another vote.

Spicer has apparently clarified that the Washington Post article was fakenews. He wasn't in the bushes, he was standing among the bushes. 😆
Or: POTUS acts on formal memorandum from Deputy AG and AG directly advising him to replace FBI Director.
That does sound better.
Shame that Trump said in his NBC interview that he was going to sack him regardless of the recommendation.
20 US attorneys general write to Rosenstein requesting the appointment of a special prosecutor.
Interesting that Rosenstein did not recommend removing Comey - and has made this clear to DOJ, WH, Burr & Warner.
Putin will be creaming himself as this farce plays out.
Interesting that Rosenstein did not recommend removing Comey - and has made this clear to DOJ, WH, Burr & Warner.
Really? His memorandum said this:
I agree with the nearly unanimous opinions of former Department officials. The way the Director handled the conclusion of the email investigation was wrong. As a result, the FBI is unlikely to regain public and congressional trust until it has a Director who understands the gravity of the mistakes and pledges never to repeat them. Having refused to admit his errors, the Director cannot be expected to implement the necessary corrective actions.

Really? His memorandum said this
As the world's greatest/biggest/best/worst (delete as appropriate) pedant.... please show me where he recommended removing him?
Perhaps he was just "calling for" his removal? Which we know is definitely not the same thing.
Anyway next up is Flynn's explanation, given he could be facing some sort of charges what are his options?
Thanks for agreeing Batfink.
Ninfan - read the words carefully; Rosenstein was highly critical of Comey but did not recommend/suggest his
dismissal or removal.
You have (conveniently) ignored the fact that Rosenstein publicly stated he neither suggested nor recommended any course of action against Comey.
Any comment about Rosenstein seeking a private audience with Burr & Warden?
What about the 20 attorneys general?
Trump is incompetent, duplicitous, a liar; understands that the rule of law only means anything if someone/anyone is prepared to enforce it and he relies on the assumption that, generally, there will be no serious attempt to enforce.
That may have worked when he was bullying and stiffing subbies in business but its a little different in high level domestic politics - let alone global politics.
He has not understood that the US legal system, law enforcement and judiciary (generally) operate to higher moral standards than his.
I give him 12 months; what's your informed view?
@Mike - Flynn has nowhere to go; increasing numbers of the legislature are saying - if it looks like like shit and smells like shit it probably is shit. Did he and Trump cut some sort of deal before he was 'sacked'?
Was Flynn's shredder working overtime before (and/or after) the subpoena landed?
None of them have learned the first lesson of being a liar which is.......lie consistently.
Did he and Trump cut some sort of deal before he was 'sacked'?
The main questions still arise from why he of his own initative started conversations with the Russian ambassador. Or more importantly who asked him to.... The penalties for getting caught at this stage are serious I think he knows that given his desire for an immunity deal - again you only really ask for that when you know your guilty but you can take down more with you.
Mike, all of the questions around Flynn - and his son - are compelling but pale into relative insignificance compared to the abyss Trump could be staring into.
Flynn:
- did he start conversations of his own volition or was he......encouraged?
- why did he fail to realise - or did he choose to ignore - that in a connected world and dealing with Putin's acolytes nothing could be guaranteed to be discrete, let alone confidential
- why did he push for immunity in exchange for testimony?
- what are his links with the Trump campaign team and presidency; personal, financial, beneficial interests?
- why did he decline to reease documents to the house committee when requested; that refusal has now resulted in the subpoena
- which other candidates were considered - and rejected - before he was appointed as national security advisor; what reasons were given for rejecting other candidates under consideration?
- can his assets be properly accounted for by referencing his declared earnings and investments?
- why did Trump specifically ignore advice and recommendations from Sally Yates about Flynn?
I refer you back to my earlier post - if it looks like shit, smells like shit (tastes like shit) it probably is shit.
The day of reckoning is approaching for Trump and co; might be slow progress but he - and others - will be held to account.
frank, completely agree, my point being he is just going to be a foot note or trivia question in the end of a much bigger story. Given the warnings, flags and the rest that were ignored ie were they preparing to sack him before the news was leaked a full 2 weeks after the warnings. Again will he spill the beans about who asked him to do what. If it goes to the top then this thing blows up - will Pence be prepared to take the fall?
Mike, as Flynn is military I hope he behaves 'honourably' and by that I mean he does the right thing for the country.
Is he compromised by anything Trump & Co know about him?
Your question about foot note or trivia question; mark feld who was eventually identified as 'deep throat' in Watergate was always seen as superficial but, in reality, was the fulcrum.
The same awaits Flynn.
Can't avoid thinking that Flynn now knows he's in over his head and he has no 'friends'; question now is what, if anything, does he have to lose by making a complete disclosure.
His reputation is shot to shit; journos will crawl all overs personal, financial and business affairs - and publicise their findings/assumptions.
His son's career is tainted by association.
Some legacy?
The plus side is at the moment it seems to be starting to kick in to some of their business interests
The company owned by the sister of Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law, has pulled out of presentations planned for China this weekend.
Kushner Companies was scheduled to pitch real estate opportunities to investors in the southern cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou at the weekend.
But last week, Nicole Meyer Kushner came under fire for using her brother's name in a pitch.
Critics accused the business of playing up the family's White House links.
The company said the comments were misconstrued but has apologised.

I don't imagine some of these guys want such a close eye being cast over them.
Defending that decision in an interview on NBC News on Thursday, Trump said: “And, in fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said: ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should’ve won.’”

Yeah it's really getting surreal...
Spicer hiding in bushes, Trumpo firing FBI boss via letter delivered by his bodyguard an then
pretty much threatening him on twitter...and alluding to taping conversations.
Can't wait to see the next episode.
It's like Trapped In The Closet.
Yes, he needs to get out of that damned closet
He really is a piece of work.
**** me he's proper bonkers!
