no no maxtorque it's a petard, not a fence or a wall.
keep up at the back
remind me how successful that was again?
Thanks wiki:
Between 1950 and 1988, around 4 million East Germans migrated to the West. 3.454 million of them left between 1950 and the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961. The great majority simply walked across the border or, after 1952, exited through West Berlin. After the border was fortified and the Berlin Wall was constructed, the number of illegal border crossings fell drastically.
So, pretty darn successful then, eh 😀
Petard, like a spotty cat? Trump has lost it if he thinks that'll stop people crossing the border.

Already working!
Trump said illegal immigration on the U.S.-Mexico border is "the lowest in 17 years."
Border Patrol data support Trump’s claim. In March, Border Patrol recorded 12,193 apprehensions at the southwest border, the lowest in at least 17 years.
It’s worth noting that apprehension rates have been declining since the recession, and significantly so since their peak of 1.6 million in 2000.
Overall, we rate Trump’s claim True.
Ummmm, so he is using a spotty cat?
The Berlin Wall was made up of a 66 mile concrete section, with a further 41 miles of barbed wire fencing
So... two-thirds of it was an actual concrete wall then?
I'm not too good on the history of the Berlin wall to be honest.
Did anyone there campaign on it being a 30ft high, concrete, impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful wall that will use the best technology including above and below ground sensors?
Incidentally, here's a nice photo of some of the terrible, porous, insecure existing border which Trump describes as fencing.

Looks oddly familiar.

Amazing - his wall is so powerful it has stopped people before it has even been built.
Not sure anybody wants to go to America anymore, illegally or otherwise.
It’s worth noting that apprehension rates have been declining since the recession
It's good to know people are less stressed*. 😆
* yes, I know, just looks funny
Of course if Clinton or Obama were in office then Trump would be complaining that they are catching less and less people at the border 🙂
Or doing his other favourite gag, saying the numbers were "phony" (as he repeatedly did with employment numbers... right up until the point where they reflected well on him)
😯You talk like a sign language gorilla that got hit in the head. In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c*ck holster.
Christ, I couldn't get to the end of that. 5 seconds of speaking, 30 seconds of whooping and clapping, 5 seconds of speaking, 30 seconds....
Not sure anybody wants to go to America anymore, illegally or otherwise.
I think you'll find the visa applicants from India and China are just as enthusiastic as they where before. Me too, why would you change you desire to go to a country on the basis of who is President, thats only a 4 year post ?
In other news the repeal of Obamacare passed it's first hurdle in the House of Representatives
You may not want to go but others want that slice of cake. The queue is so long there is no shortage of people wanting to enter Murica. 😆akira - Member

There are nearly 2.5 billion people (combine) in Indian & China there is not even time to think about what others think. They just want to go wherever that can to provide them good livelihood. 😛
That's good news is it?
Depends on your view innit. 😯slowoldman - Member

Ah, I was referring to Jambalaya's Obamacare post.
Wow, well I guess they all saw Jimmy Kimmel's bit about how his baby nearly died of congenital heart disease and would have been uninsurable before 2014 and thought "Yeah that sounds great. Why should I pay for someone's faulty baby?"
In other news the repeal of Obamacare passed it's first hurdle in the House of Representatives
His first legislative success after 3 months in office
though of course it passed by the narrowest of margins and is very unlikely to be passed by the Senate (the House was supposed to be the easy bit), so will be heading back there for another vote at some point.

Meanwhile in other news, there's a reason for today's announcement from the palace:
So a health reform that will kill people is a good thing? I resign from this thread, jambalaya you're supporting a bill that punishes people for having been raped. I despair for humanity.

Lovely.
Isn't it - but actually his twitter feed is quite interesting, because he's not rejoicing at all in the passing of this bill, but agreeing with the Democrats that it's electoral suicide for the Republicans
https://twitter.com/walshfreedom
(that should be compulsory reading for chewy, jamba and ninfan before they come on here rejoicing - he's from your side of the political spectrum, so it's not the view of a whining snowflake).
Alternatively, this could have been avoided if the Democrats had done a deal with the more centrist republicans the other week, but instead they went for the short-term feel good win.
he's not rejoicing at all in the passing of this bill,
From what I gather he reckons it's not a "repeal" at all and now Republicans are saddled with the cost.
Alternatively, this could have been avoided if the Democrats had done a deal with the more centrist republicans the other week, but instead they went for the short-term feel good win.
Not sure I understand ninfan? Are you saying the Republicans winning this vote was a short term feel good win for the Democrats?
Or that if the Democrats had done a deal last week then the Republicans winning could have been avoided?
Alternatively, this could have been avoided if the Democrats had done a deal with the more centrist republicans the other week and screwed over a vast swathe of the American public, but instead they went for the ****-you ya bunch of monied vampires or the no ****ing way optionFTFY.
Alternatively, this could have been avoided if the Democrats had done a deal with the more centrist republicans the other week
the Republican's electoral suicide?
Are you thinking this is a "win" for the Republicans (and Trump)? Have you read that twitter feed?
Legal immigration applications have increased as there are serious fears of a big shut down (especially from non white people) the heavy handed removal may also be impacting illegal immigration too.
As for the health bill it tells you all you need to know about the administration. So desperate to get rid of something they don't care what they get.

maxtorque » Hmm, turns out Trump tweeting on Earth Day didn't go so well for him:

Lots of erudite replies on there, but my favourite is this brief somethingion:

It was one of The Donald's most (in)famous and controversial campaign moments:
And Spicer acts like he's never heard it before.

Well then you are a pretty shitty Press Secretary then aren't you?
To be replaced by Chief Wiggam probably
Ralph would fit in better.
Imagine if hilary had got in due to the russians with less votes than trump and then did this 😯
Its clearly the start of a very public cover up but there does not seem like enough republicans to care about russian intervention for it to matter
Ask not what your country can do for you ask only what you can do to serve your party.
Strange times.
I'd imagine this is going to start and fall apart. Sally Yates was damming yesterday showing that basically they knew about Flynn's problems for 2 weeks and only acted when it was leaked.

Chicken and Egg?
Considering they were praising him in 2016 for his gutsy move to come out with the 2nd Clinton Email bomb just before the election I wonder what has happened?
Was he getting too close? Nice warning to other people looking into things they shouldn't be? Time to close ranks and get the yes men up the list?

Life must be nice when you can just believe all the stuff you are spoon fed.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions had been charged with coming up with reasons to fire him, the officials said.
And, as if by magic, a few days later Jeff Sessions appears to have forced Comey to go ahead and mislead the senate committee. Some form of evil CIA mind control trick I presume, like in the men who stare at goats?
Having read the stuff there, it's way more than that and you know it. Whats your take on Sally Yates testimony about informing Trump about Flynn?
What about Jeff Sessions misleading his confirmation hearing about the meaning of meeting Russian officials? Sets a low bar doesn't it? I would assume you would agree Sessions needs to go next (he might be on the list as the joint architect of the plan with Steve Bannon)
The narrative so far is obey or be fired. Wonder if the leaks will increase now as bad news isn't allowed near the president.
