looking for some XC shoes that can double as CX shoes, so need to have studs.
Price range is up to about £70.
Needed ASAP as both cleats ripped out my diadoras on Sunday
Best I can find is Giro carbide or Northwave Scorpius SRS.
Any good/bad about them, or alternatives??
If you can stretch a little further or use a promo code, I really really rate my Shimano XC61

Nice roomy toe box, I find them true to normal shoe sizes (unlike the normal shimano rule of going up a size)
I have some Giro Rumble VR's, they tend to come out fairly narrow - seems likely all giro's are this way. They're very true to size though - I wear a 9 normally, and they fit spot on.
Northwave apparently come out large, and especially wide. It'll make a big difference if you're ordering online...

I have gaerne mtb and road shoes, very good kit
Second the recommendation on the xc61s. Use these on my road bike. Nice fit and very stiff
not ever considered the Gaerne's.
For shimano, I guess the XC51 is similar to the 61 and £25 cheaper.
I have the Northwave Scorpius SRS, really stiff and light, nothing negative about them. They do need to break in a bit though as the heel and sole are one piece carbon, I stupidly did a 6hr race 1st time I wore them and they rubbed, all fine now after a few rides.
I plumped for Mavic rush from rose bikes, 65 inc post, and I could only find good things about them
I've got the Scorpios too in yellow, proper nice shoes.
Just ordered some m200 shimano - to be used on my ht with egg beaters, my FS with flats and my cx with eg beaters.....will let you know how they go...
The Agu Torquay from on one. Stupidly good, £20.
Wouldn't touch the mavic Rush, I thought they'd make a decent shoe for that but the buckles have just disintegrated both sides. Back to shimano for me.
