Set of Rotors and bolts for £35 delivered... Can't argue with that!

Big fan of their pads but never tried the rotors out

That Bird Aether 9c on the last page is a right bargain if you like carbon. Not much more than I paid for my 9a in a very similar spec.

Are Bird doing ok? v little stock on their website, seem to be selling off the last of their bikes like Privateer did.

Slightly odd one but i got recommended an app called Everup, which is a gift-vouchers-with-cashback deal. It's not brilliant for bike stuff but does include Evans Cycles, Halfords and Decathlon. Basically you can buy a gift voucher for yourself in realtime, you get usually around 4% cashback for it, and then you can spend it immediately- literally quick enough that you can do it in a shop and spend it 10 seconds later. So it's like one extra step at a checkout or website but basically free money. Which you can use to buy more gift cards if you want. And since it's just a payment method it combos up with things like clubcards, other discount codes, topcashback etc.

I've mostly been using it for Tesco, screwfix and B&Q 😛 But that's more money for bike stuff. Or Airbnb for holidays. I'm going to go mental with it in TK Maxx though

I think it's against the rules to do referral code things but I'll recommend it anyway, it really doesn't seem to have much downside. Oh there's a whole other side to it with scratchcard games and such which is probably ideal gateway drug for gambling addiction stuff but you don't have to do that 🙂

Thank you. Have you ordered from them before?

Sorry missed this. Yes have ordered from them. Had to pay tax on import (was expecting too). Still worked out cheaper than UK.

Any good deals on full face helmets?

Tredz have the Troy Lee Stage in "stealth midnight" colour, aka black, for £168. unusually for such sales they have all sizes in stock.

They’re very light, comfortable and well vented. And reduced from £300. So yeah, it’s a good deal.

I don't think anyone's ever paid £300 for a Stage, I paid about this for mine. But it's still a good deal especially in all sizes and in a non-horrible colour. It's one of those fullfaces that you wear when you normally wouldn't want to.

@oli31 thanks for the tip off on the shock. Got a shock in my transition sentinel that may well be screwed - creaking horribly, intermittently. That x2 is only slightly more than a service.

I suspect it might be one of the old unreliable batch of x2 but reckon I'll risk it and warranty it if needs be.

I've got the x2 factory on another bike and it's a great air shock IMHO

TLD stage is a superb bunnet. Eldest has had two, one of which has gone through a major crash and while destroyed clearly meant his brain was somewhat less destroyed.

I bought a TLD Stage a couple of years ago when a shop was punting them for £100. Great helmet, well vented and comfy although not tested its ultimate capabilities. Wish I'd bought a second to stash for future use.

An eBay shop has some at £140 (also a physical shop in Dorset it seems) but contrary to the Tredz selection, there's limited sizing and 'interesting' colours/graphics only (but nothing a sharpie can't fix, unless you do indeed ride a Mondraker).

As posted in the related thread, if anyone is chain damper curious Rimpact still have the B-Grade chain dampeners at £149.99 if you have the right cranks, I also checked and they ship with both sets of springs too.  REMY10 gets you 10% (£15 off) in February and postage is free (discount also applies to other items).  Makes it £135.

Absolutlely no skin in the game and this is purely because I got fed an advert but... this:

image.png

https://sportandleisure.com/products/descent-rambler-700c-gravel-bike-shimano-1x-drivetrain

Looks absolutely brill for five hundred quid!

Crucially, its got Hydraulic Brakes, which is always the gotcha with dirt cheap gravel bikes. Its not light, and the ride is not likely to be particularly refined, but an an N+1, commuter, spare, etc it looks cracking. Only 8 speed, but its proper Shimano components which will be basic but long lasting and solid, and you can get 11-45t 8 speed casettes for another twenty quid so the range is possible even if it will be quite gappy between ratios.

And, literally, it does actually look good, which is again unusual at this kind of budget. Good range of of sizes and its customizable at build too.

Never heard of Descent brand, 8-speed brifters with hydraulic brakes on a drop bar is usual and even though it's an alloy fork, £500 unless you do any customisations is a great deal!

No experience with site though and if I'm looking at right name, lots of negative reviews.

I dont think there is a brand as such, its just a name stuck on a frame they will have bought a container full of from Taiwan etc. Its the same people who have been flogging those Ghost Carbon Wheels I think. Caveat Emport, be realsitic about what to expect for £499, pay on your credit card etc, but even so, I think it may be of interest to some!

But, always worth looking for the same product in there eBay shop, as its usually discounted more, and you get the safety of eBay purchases

For the roadies and gravellists, there seem to be some cheap Prologo Dimension Nack saddles available from Decathlon and Merlin at the moment with 50% off, brings them down to £109 for a super light carbon railed saddle.

The Dimension is Prologo's short-nose Power/ SLR Boost equivalent, and in my experience the Prologo carbon saddles are beautifully finished.

Fitted it. Probably need some volume tokens for it as it didn't come with any.ans the bike it's gone on isn't very progressive on't leverage curve

Awaiting the slurping...might be a while yet as trails are too hugely minging to take the bike I've fitted it to out (trail/light enduro rig)

Thanks. Was pondering if it's worthwhile but I shock for a dw linkage ebike might not be that great on a manual Horst link bike without a retune.

I’ve a 30 inch waist, they have an inbuilt belt (Velcro) to cinch up any slack which works quite well.

Usually I find gorewear on the smaller side so I orderd an xl in the graphite that came this week. Sending it back as its massive.

I've reordered another in large but this time the grey/indigo with the logo on the arm

I would've said the Ghost C26 carbons (1490g) that were <£300, but they're back up to £399 and only Microspline left (which isn't end of the world if you're 12-sp as a SLX MS cassette is £55ish). I've got 2.4s on mine.

Reserve XCs for £900 at Merlin, on Industry Nine 1/1s - you'd need to swap the freehub though so an extra £80.

Sorry for slow response- it's pretty different, because it's basically gift vouchers rather than a discount. So you can combine it with other discounts or cashback or whatever.

It does have the downsides of gift cards- if anything goes wrong with the transaction, like something's out of stock or you return it, you can be left with a voucher you don't really want. But for a lot of stuff there's just no downside. Like, Tesco is a perfect example.

(I bought some stuff from B&Q then returned it and it got a bit faffy)

I'm sure it isn't a big issue but Codes run 200mm rotors and these are 203mm.

On my last bike I had the SRAM version and they did reduce the throw. I suspect these will do the same job, but unsure of the 3mm difference...might need an extra washer perhaps.

203mm adaptors are readily available, or 1.5mm washers. Hope do some precision manufactured shims so you can get it “just” right.

Been using them for about 6 months with my Mavens, 2.3mm 220mm front and rear. Working well for me although clearance is extremely tight with the mavens and fresh pads

Ali Express here.  They had hinged ones or ded cheap "rigid" U-shapes, which is what I went for.  Haven't fitted yet though so can't really say they work yet

That's a lazy answer, so I've been out & got an old handlebar from the garage.  Fits just fine.  Obviously they're not quite as easy to fit to bars on a built bike as the hinged ones (taking off grips, maybe shifters etc)

I`ve got a set of the cheapo u clamps and they work - just have to crank the bolt up. bit if electric tape on teh inside would probably help. if you have carbon bars buy better clamps

Now ( hopefully 🤞) temperatures are heading in the right direction it's time for a lighter weight waterproof.

My Madison Flux has seen better days , got a replacement from Active Sport ? Used to be Mark Anthony! 😯

Found that out after I bought it , thought this could go wrong. Ordered Wednesday turned up Friday 👍

Can't vouch for it yet but the old version was 2 1/2 layer new is 3 L yet somehow as light and does pack down ? £74 against RRP £140 cheapest I'd seen elsewhere £110

Anyone ever done a big brand suspension seatpost? Do they work and not fall apart within a few rides?

I had a USE one 20+ years ago on my CX bike. It did make a difference, in that there were features I could ride on the saddle with the suspension post fitted, whereas without it would have been a whack in the goolies. USE used to sell the service kit, with the bits that wore out, of which they did, and needed a rebuild after 2 years, only £15 or so at the time.

Those hiplok zloks are good for delaying a thief if your bike is in eyesight, but not proper protection obviously.

Definitely better than one of those comedy gear cable retractable locks you could snip with a cable cutter, though

I've got one of the original keyed ones. Very light and packable.

I've ordered a couple of the combination ones - they're a bit beefier by all accounts
