Mahle x35 equipped Raleigh ebike with hydraulic brakes for £1k.

That's perfect for anyone sitting with a £1k cycle to work voucher. Nothing flashy, just right for an e-assisted commute for normal people.

Raleigh looks great, but I can't find any geometry or sizing info on the frame. Some of these hybrids are road frames with short very top tubes lengths (e.g. 560mm on a large, rather than 600mm ish). I've tried that before and couldn't get on with it, especially climbing or out of the saddle.

Out of curiosity, I've been looking for geometry info for that Raleigh ebike, but the best I've found suggests the frame size number is seat tube length, very weird that Raleigh site gives so little info!

No mediums left in either colour now.

sounds like they are sizing it in the way that normal people care about, ie the average joe knows they need a 17.5" frame and that's all they care for

Just paid £755 for a set of Hunt Proven Carbon Trail H-Core mullet wheels - 30% (standard) Hunt sale plus 10% member discount.

Before anyone turns their nose up, I have the same wheels in full 29 on my Stanton and happy with them 👍

Won't be for everyone, but a decently-specced, well-reviewed trail bike for £1,450 (from £2,950): Cannondale Habit 3 140/130 trail FSer. I've recently taken delivery of two for the mini a11ys first FSers after looking secondhand for ages and being disheartened. Not a retailer I've used before, arrived within 2 weeks and no additional fees etc. It was between these and Saracen Ariel 30 but they're still £250 more.

Benji of this parish seems to rate them: Cannondale Habit 3 review – Singletrack World Magazine

And the colour is indeed amazing - glittery purple and blue that flips depends how you look at it.

Brilliant. The RRP on the Cannondale is inflated on their website too but not on that scale 😀

That Raleigh looks to be a bit of a bargain, it’s my mates birthday in march so i may buy her one and ask Tredz if they could fit a higher rise bar, kickstand and a couple of panniers for it. I’ll give them a call tomorrow to enquire/ask a few things about it.

Here it is on the Raleigh website below

Merlin have Codes even cheaper if you don't mind switching hoses or cheaper still for a set if you get a slightly lower model

@n0b0dy0ftheg0at Thanks For highlighting the link to the Raleigh Trace @ tredz, I ordered a small for my mate so I guess she’s getting an early birthday present. At 5ft 6” with a 30” inside leg she is on the cusp of small or medium.

As she has a degenerative lumbar issue I figure the small would be the better option, I have a new USE Vybe suspension seatpost that will be fitted as well as a 40mm Truvativ riser bar. Also bought a

.

As she’s a sorta “carer” for me due to my SPMS it’ll help her get back n’ forward as it’s 1mile walk from her end of town to my end and she doesn’t drive.

Our Merida is same system and we considered the Raleigh, but the local shop did Merida. It's a brilliant thing - enough power to really help, great range when not on maximum, and best of all a lot lighter than most eBikes.

Orbea Vibe similar too. Only gripe my wife has is it's tricky to plug the charger in.

I have a Mahler powered bike and the charger is easy to engage once you have the knack

align the arrows

push the charger down into place

gentle turn the lock clockwise

if you push it fully into place it locks on easily

seems obvious but gently does it

I line up the Mahle charge plug lock with up/down and then plug it into ebike, before rotating lock tab into place, simples!

While this is true, it's still a really poor piece of design...

Not sure how much of a bargain this is, as the brakes aren't fully hydraulic, but NS Rag+ black large for £600. Orange version was on hotukdeals earlier, but think now oos.

Tempted to buy a set just as spares, that's a proper bargain.

Worth noting it looks like they come set up Euro-style so could be a minor faff setting them up.

The pair doesn't - it comes as a "J kit" which IIRC means the levers aren't attached to the hose, making it easier for internal routing install. From the link:

Please note: when ordered as individual brakes they are supplied as EU spec so the front brake is on the left & the rear is on the right. They are supplied as a J-Kit, so when orders are as a pair, this does not matter.

I bought those TRP brakes at £70. Bargain indeed. They don't come connected which is great. Little hex plug in the inserts. Mine didn't have olives though, just spare inserts.

Super easy to bleed from the lever too, takes 2 mn.

I use 1.8mm rotors and that's fine btw.

Related to the FGF , i've been contemplating a Sprindex for a while and finally gone for it.

Sport and Leisure have them on eBay for £84.99 using the coupon code CHILLY15. Lots of different sizes and configurations available.

these seem a bargain ?

Weird that is says it's a brake set but they have another ad for those brakes that actually are a set and are £45. Also it looks like the levers are Euro set up going off hose lengths.

I think the option selection is just a bit obtuse - if you select actual hose lengths for both front and rear (on the original link) you get the set for £45. Hose lengths look OK to me, and think the levers are ambidextrous anyway.

So you can buy them individually for £15 each (with free postage I think?) or you can buy a pair for £45? What am I missing?
