So you can buy them individually for £15 each (with free postage I think?) or you can buy a pair for £45? What am I missing?

Front brake is £15 but rear brake is £41.99 (select Front Hose Length : Rear Brake Only, Rear Hose Length : 1800mm).

Related to the FGF , i've been contemplating a Sprindex for a while and finally gone for it.

Sport and Leisure have them on eBay for £84.99 using the coupon code CHILLY15. Lots of different sizes and configurations available.

Thanks, that’s nudged me into trying one too

No worries - it's a bit of a UI fail. £40.50 with code BCR10 in any case..

SRAM Code Stealth Silver brakeset now down to £150 (or £135 with code BCR10)

Those Code Silver Stealth are great brakes, they came on my e-bike. Very happy with them. Smashing price that, and the original Code RSC are around the same price.

Having suffered with a couple of sets on bikes in the past, I'd say the best solution to the confusion over which Level brakes you'll get is to simply steer well clear of them altogether. Unreliable, awkward buggers that don't really work very well even when they're technically working.

I have Cura 2s and they're absolutely stonking brakes. Apparently not much less power than the Cura 4s. REALLY tempted by a pair to replace the Deore 4 pots on my new bike.

Hang on 90 quid for a pair of cura 2's?

Is that really for a pair or for one?

As far as I can tell it's for a pair.

Changed the country to UK and it's now £67.62 with £17.87 shipping, plus you'll have to add VAT on top of that. Which I think takes it to just over a hundred quid all in (not sure if you pay VAT on the delivery or not).

Still a bargain, I'd say.

Yep that is seriously cheap for a pair of those brakes,  I have 2 pairs on different bikes and trying to decide if I can justify a spare set

I'm not exactly sure what model Cura they are but you'll notice that the lever blade has a knob on the end (a bit motorbike style) that the normal Cura doesn't have

AFAIK, bike discount have a min order of £175 ish for shipping to UK, similar to other German shops.

Fine if there's a group buy though...

I thought the same but when I went through the steps to checkout (I didn't complete it) they didn't mention it so maybe the policy has changed.

Those Cura brakes look good and I wouldn't have an issue with them being 2 piston. I am not sure they are that compelling compared to the UK sourced TRPs at 30% less. I think we tend to prefer what we know and I am no different. I would seriously struggle to move away from TRP as they are so user friendly to install and use standard size pads and just work so well and so reliably.

I don't think you can buy a bad brake anymore if you avoid SRAM and Shimano 😂

now I'm on a proper laptop and not my phone.

https://www.bike-discount.de/en/service-for-uk-customers

"For customers from Great Britain there is a minimum order value of 175 GBP incl. shipping costs. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to ship complete bicycles and bulky goods to the UK.

National sales tax as well as customs & Import fees:

Deliveries to Great Britain are net, i.e. without national sales tax. This tax is then due on import. If United Kingdom is selected as the country of delivery, the prices are displayed in the shop without sales tax.

In addition to the shipping costs calculated by Bike-Discount, additional import costs may apply. These are usually about any import duties and national sales tax."

would be interesting to see if you did manage to check out, it may be that policy has changed but they've not updated the details.

@nickfrog - if you like an off/on brake, the Curas are way, way better than the TRPs I've ridden (admittedly only the DHR Evos but they're meant to be top of the line). More stopping power, better feel.

@munrobiker

Cheers. I don't like an on/off feel, modulation is really important to me.

As for power, I never had a brake where I couldn't lock a tyre at will with just one finger so my view is that all decent brakes have huge power anyway. I really don't believe there are huge variations on the same pad/rotor.

Resilience is far more important for me.

I find my Curas modulate really well, but I guess mebbe I'm just used to them. There's not loads of lever stroke between 'gently slowing down' and 'nearly over the bars' but I quite like that. You just need to be gentle with 'em.

^ that's precisely the kind of modulation characteristic I don't want. Fine most of the time and then if you have to panic brake, not fine.

My memory of the TRPs was they have better modulation than Shimano: not as immediately powerful feeling on initial pull, but with a nice ramp up in braking force as you pulled harder. Perhaps not as outright powerful as the 4-piston XT M8120s I'm using now.

I've bought TRPs to complete my kids' new bikes. Had planned to reuse existing 2-pot Shimanos from their previous bikes but needed longer hoses at £18-20ea, so for a bit extra they're getting new TRPs instead and leaves me with the take-off brakes from their new bikes to sell.

Thanks for the PSA @superstu  😎

That's fair. I guess I've had them that long (and other brakes like them) I'm just used to it. Maybe I should try something less grabby and see how I get on...

There are quite a few bits of cycling clothing in this auction ending later today:

https://www.johnpyeauctions.co.uk/Event/Details/469561164/Marchington-Premium-Room-01-Cycle-Attire?page=0

Worth mentioning that there are hammer fees and VAT to pay, so you'll be paying roughly 50% over the bid price.

Squinting a lot at the pic, I think there's some kind of rubber cover stuck on the end of the blade

Do you want to bring the brake chat to a firm, controlled stop?

I just bought an Endura Singletrack II jacket olive green in my local TK Maxx for £49.99 (Isle of Wight)

I bought an L and saw a S there as well, they have shorts on their website so may be a few other bits as well

Thank you. Have you ordered from them before? I am confused as other German sellers sell exvat so VAT to be added at custom clearance.

However those guys say that you need a VAT number to get exvat pricing but not clear if that applies to the UK (you shouldn't need a VAT number for the UK to pay exvat).

In other words are those prices in £ exvat or incvat?
