Put you left foot in, your right arm out, stick your bum into the air and shake it all about. Never mind tiers, levels, deal or no deal, or clips vs flats. Don’t breathe on anyone, wash your hands, don’t burn peat bogs, be kind, and ride your bike. It’s Friday, in a long list of Fridays, and there will be more Fridays to come. Some of them will be less confusing than this one.
In an effort to inject relaxation in between the squawks of ‘How Much!’ and ‘We can’t do what now?!’, we will intersperse this week’ FGF with some gentle tunes.

Kryptonite Security
- Price: £89.99 (Stronghold Ground Anchor), £129.99 (New York M-18 U-Lock), £69.99 (Messenger Mini with Extender)
- From: Freewheel
It’s almost exactly a year since Hannah and Amanda had their bikes stolen off them in the street, and it’s not something we’d like to experience again. The Stronghold Ground anchor gives a solid fixing in your garage or shed to bolt your bike to, and the New York M-18 U-Lock should give potential thieves pause for thought too. Both have the strongest ‘Sold Secure Gold’ security rating. If they’re a little bulky for out and about, there’s the Messenger lock. This one comes with a handy extension loop, making it easier to fit round posts, bike racks or other fixed street furniture. The keys come on stretchy bracelets, meaning you can wear them messenger style and not lose them. Portability comes at the cost of security – it’s Sold Secure Silver – but it’s still a sturdy feeling piece of kit.
Well, we’re not going anywhere, so here is going to have to do. Only, we’re not there, are we?

Singletrack Cotton Organic Beanie Hat
- Price £16.99 (Members get a good discount)
- From: Singletrack Merch Store
Technically these are not fresh as they were delivered to the Singletrack Merch HQ in the summer. However, it is now very fresh outside. Hannah was asked to get some product shots, but instead came back with proof she is as mad as a hat stand. Our cotton beanies are cosy, organic, very hatty and just the ticket for waiting around for that chump who never turns up for rides on time.
Further research into Hannah’s hat “condition” uncovered this revealing footage. Some say it is from her student days, others believe it’s simply a glimpse into her millinery crazed mind.

Cascade Components Megatower Link
- Price: £331
- From Cascade Components
Cascade Component are a company that specialise in making after market links for various bikes to improve the suspension performance from various manufacturers. While the Megatower is an amazing bike, some people have questioned the firmness of the suspension. The Cascade components link aims to address this issue and is designed to improve already impressive cornering and descending performance. This is achieved by changing the leverage curve to offset the high low speed compression damping tune that the stock shock has. The link also ups the travel to 166mm and also allows different stroke shocks to be run to increase the travel to as much as 180mm.

I like those trainers….
Like the music today.
Can we see the insole removed and a foot placed on it please?
I only buy shoes that are actually shaped like feet and the shoe liner test is pretty useful for that. Should be standard practice for all footwear.
Aaron Gwin Shifters? Not that great a recommendation. If he manages to keep his chain on, he stacks it into a rock or slides into a tree at the slightest hint of UK style conditions ;->

Ok then.
Adidas five ten xc – don’t know if I would buy these as I know they have a waterproof version with higher ankle cuffs.
I’d rather keep my dosh for a winter boot.
Do they have a handbag to match?

Apologies for duplicate post.
Adidas trailcross goretex boot delayed production until spring 2021 due to covid issues. Shame.
I will just have to drill some drainage holes into my old five tens.

Couldnt agree more, so important, I’m sick of stuffing my feet into weird shaped narrow shoes
