Claiming to provide “complete protection and comfort” for everything from enduro racing to cross-country racing, the Rex is the first mountain helmet from the Tour-winning Italians at KASK. One of what could be considered the ‘second wave’ of modern trail helmets, the Rex has a full twenty vents, ratcheting peak, breakaway camera mount (for Sony, GoPro, and Garmin), and a rubbery goggle hold-down.
As has become common, the deep rear drop provides more coverage than road-derived helmets and internal frame helps to keep Rex together when things fall apart. As silly as it may sound to nonbelievers, the leather chin strap is regularly cited one of those things you never knew you needed- but do by KASK owners.
Sold in four colours and two sizes, the Rex stickers at £150 – not bad for a premium Italian-made helmet. They’re available now from Velo Brands.
