Interbike 2015: Paul adds stem, proper thru axle QRs

The Boxcar
Must… increase… image… brightness!

American CNCistas at Paul continue to churn out new product and are showing a couple of new goodies at Interbikes this week.  First is the Boxcar stem.  Specifics weren’t available (though it’s not one for the weight-obsessed), but the new model is machined in Chico, California in 50, 70, and 90mm lengths.  Despite being the product of first-world workers, retail is set at a not-unreasonable $90.

Mmm... orange button.
That orange cam really brings the skewer together.

Quite appealing in our eyes are the new “Set and Forget” thru axles.  Available to fit “most standards,” ( a crazy-long fatbike model was on display), the thru axle has a proper quick-release and what felt to be nice, solid action.  Again, not the lightest – but appealing to those of us whose screw-through axles have a habit of forgetting to stay tight.  How much?  How does $62 sound?

  1. While I like the idea of a semi QR thru-axle that cam lever looks very 1980’s. Would have though that Paul’s could have come up with something that didn’t look like it came off a very old Shimano QR.
