The nice folks at TweedLove HQ have released details of yet another new addition to this year’s TweedLove festival schedule: Love Cross, an urban cyclocross event.
The course round Peebles town centre is described as “a mixture of fast open sprints, tight corners, steps, cobbles, paving, man made berms, sand pits and multiple line choices”, and with a Le Mans-style start to kick things off there’s probably going to be some interesting tactics going on. You can enter on any sort of bike, too – be it ‘cross machine, road steed or downhill rig, all are welcome – and as all those pesky super fast and skilled EWS riders will be over in Ireland for round two that week, it might be a good time (ie. the only chance) for us mortals to make a bid for the top step of the TweedLove podium.
Love Cross takes place in the evening on Tuesday 19th May – right after the Family Ride, so if you’re taking part in that then prepare to arm your kids with cowbells and hang around to watch the carnage be entertained.
