The little things

I set up a bird feeder outside the office window last week. The locals have discovered it this morning. Two great tits and a robin frequenting it as I supp my coffee. They have made me smile, that is all.

my mother rang me yesterday so chuffed that she’d had the first ever visit of long tail tits to her garden, tiny garden in the middle of a “wasteland” of decking and gravel. (we get them quite frequently backing onto farmland). Should get some meal worms for the robin, you can “train” him to come to a whistle!

Yep, a pair of great tits bouncing around outside my office window always makes me smile too.

I’ve kept hearing a bird squawking and carrying on over the last few weeks but not seen it until the other day. Turns out it’s a jackdaw and it’s not afraid to get up close and personal. The neighbor has been telling me about seeing this bird and it has finally revealed itself. It hasn’t been on the hand yet but it comes within a couple of feet and is quite happy hopping around and chattering. It does a good alarm impression too!

Don’t lean out of the window and shout “great tits” that seems to scare them off when I do it.

If you have the stale left overs of a baguette, put a bit of twine through it and hang that up for them, they love a go at that.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a pair of Great Tits around my hard nob-end.
