A group of us are hoping to meet up for Passportes. Hopefully it will all come together as we are now spread to the four winds with wives, children etc.

    1. Are the big resorts that bad as a start point (I’ve heard it mentioned you are better to start from a quiet resort)? Unfortunately, due to travelling from different places we are thinking of Morzine as our base.

    2. Are there only limited places for each start location? In other words will we allneed to sit at our different computers at 9am on Wed to guarantee we all get the same start location?

    3. Are there trails directly from Morzine, so that we can ride on the day(s) we are not doing the Passportes. Or do you need lift passes? XC type riding as opposed to DH?

    Any other advice greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

we are too going out for the passport. there are trails all over the area, you dont need to have a lift pass but they do help you access the higher trails and passes a little easier and faster. you could always buy a lift pass for one or two days??!!

RCD – there are lots of threads have a search.

Just have one of you buy all the tickets, you’ll need names and dates of birth for all the riders.

There are the same number of tickets for sale at each start point. The bigger resorts are potentially busier as there will be non PPdS riders queuing, however in practice you’ll be starting earlier than riders not doing the event. We stayed in Les Gets last year and officially that was out start but we rolled down the road to Morzine and only had a short wait.

Plenty of trails of all types from XC to full on downhill. We had a wonderful lunch at a great place with stunning views, above Les Gets, Mont Caly, accessed via a simple ride from Les Gets lifts with various options down (Dans le Gaz black one of the easier ones locally). Lift passes are cheaper than for skiing and highly recommended, easy to buy by the day.
