Right, need some AV help.

I have a Bush freeasat HD box with HDMI and Scart output

A LCD monitor with VGA input

And one of these to join them together

However,they don't work.
Tried connecting the Freesat box to our big TV, through Scart, and that works. I connected our existing Humax box to the monitor, through the HDMI kit. It objected about screen size, but it did work.

I'm assuming the HDMI settings on the Bush are incomaptible with the monitor as the connector doesn't convert the signal, but until they're connected, I don't know how to get it setup. Any suggestions?

You'd probably need to hook the FV box up to a normal TV and check the settings to be sure it's set up right, otherwise trying to blind fault find will be frustrating

I don't own anything with an HDMI input, which is a bit of a pain...

You may stumble on the solution but you could really do with checking the settings
Were there any settings for HDMI when you connected it to the big TV that you could see?

I suspect you'll need to play around with output setting somewhere but without a visual confirmation that'll be tricky

Connect to the big telly with scart and check the HDMI output settings. The output can be:
576p 720p 1080i
The converter only accepts input of:
720P/1080i/1080P
You'll probably also need to change the aspect ratio as the monitor is not wide screen.

I thought I'd managed to change the HDMI settings, but I don't know for certain if they applied as it was conencted via scart at the time.

Would the resolution of the monitor affect what inputs I can use? Or should the converter sort that as its VGA?
