Load of old tosh. I’m ambivalent about the royals, but really? What’s the ACTUAL point of giving your grandson (who’s a bloody prince anyway) a knighthood. Actually cheapens the title, if you ask me. I’m going to give my youngest son the title ‘wrangler of galaxies extraordinaire’ it will have about as much meaning…

Why didn’t she just call it the ‘sorry you won’t ever be king’ medal?

I think its touching she thinks he is her grandchild tbh

Royals do love to have lots of medals on their chests for family photos.

To be fair to Harry, when I am supreme leader of the world, he is the only royal I might consider not executing.

Because he’s not actually very related to most of them?

He’s adding some freshness to the gene pool. The lack of chins and male pattern baldness was getting problematic. So he’s ensuring the genetic viability of the royal family, which I guess is a good thing if you like that sort of thing.

He took his ginger complexion to Afghanistan, where it’s apparently quite sunny. That WAS brave.

Apart from the minor problem of the ginger gene ben

The ginger gene was already present in the royal gene pool. Sarah Ferguson who was already related to the royal family before she married into it is ginger, and Harry’s mother’s sister who as a Spencer is also related to royalty is ginger. In fact Harry has more than a passing resemblance to his aunt :

EDIT : Oh and Diana’s brother was also ginger :

Does this mean all the ginners who went to Afghanistan are getting knighthoods? Or is it just the one?

    from the article

During his military career he has publicly supported charities including Help for Heroes and ABF the Soldiers’ Charity.
In March 2014 he launched the Invictus Games for injured members of the armed forces.
He also helped set up the charity Sentebale in Lesotho to help children affected by HIV and Aids.

He well looks his uncle tbh. Spoils it a bit.

I don’t know if he’s knighthood material yet but in all honesty if he keeps it up it’s only a matter of time. It’s true that his really privileged position is what enables him to do the good work, which probably does lessen it, but it strikes me that nobody’s ever made him go and be a pbi or do more than token charity work.

I think he’s alright, for someone raised in a lunatic asylum

In that photo up there, Prince William looks like the result of Rab C Nesbitt rogering a horse.

Of course he’s got some Spencer ginger. It’s not his maternal lineage that’s questionable 🙄

The title has been cheapened since Bradley Wiggins got knighted.
He is a ginger too, just to stay on theme.

Knights are there to protect the Queen. Seems quite normal for her son to be made one. I can’t see what the fuss is.

It’s not exactly a big deal if you’re already “Prince” is it? That trumps everything up to King.

Jam I think even you might need to accept that the evidence does not support the view that Harry is her son
Your view of what the role of a knight is is not much more accurate and seems to suggest you think we still live in a medieval world.

Prince Harry must be special, because he is already a Prince. That means that he is better than any of us. It is therefore obvious that the things that he does are more remarkable than the things that we do. If he keeps doing remarkable things, why should he not get a knighthood?

This whole thread is full of sour grapes and beastly sedition.

Regardless of his lineage (which he has zero control over), Harry has done some very, very good work for charity. People have received knighthoods for riding bikes quite fast and playing football. I’d say his knighthood is far more deserving and is a recognition of his work.

Cast aside who his mum/dad/grandmother are and he’s just a young man who has worked hard in the forces and done good work for chariy, and for that, I agree with the knighthood.

Not that old horseshit again. Give it a rest.

On a tangent – I’ve noticed that the paparazzi are concentrating on Harry now they’ve been warned off his brother’s family…

Missing the point though- all the appearance traits that people say come from Hewitt are also present in his official family tree. And in mine actually 😆 Nothing to do with me though. It’s good fun that he looks like Hewitt but he also looks like a Spencer and like his official dad, especially if you play the same “pick the perfect picture” game.

but isn’t that the point he gets the knighthood because of who is granny is, anyone else it’s a mbe at best.

Is he really the best of the best or the royalist of them?
If you think he got a knighthood for that rather than his lineage then you are very very mistaken.

Well when I make my bid to become supreme ruler, according to jambalaya all the knights will rally to protect the queen. Which means I won’t have to go through the effort off rounding them all up.

Can’t a man change his opinions ffs ?

OK I used to be a lefty but then a combination of persuasive and hard to refute posts from jambalaya and chewkw convinced me of my erroneous conclusions, example :

Knights are there to protect the Queen. Seems quite normal for her son to be made one. I can’t see what the fuss is.

Besides, I’ve always loved the Royal Family, I feel they’re like my family. The Queen Mother always had a smile for us during the Blitz and it was this typical selfless act that made the nation one big family which all pulled together – and guaranteed that Gerry never stood a chance.

    .

all the appearance traits that people say come from Hewitt are also present in his official family tree.

I don’t doubt that Prince Harry is in some way related to James Hewitt as presumably his mother also was – isn’t the correct protocol that members of the Royal Family only shag people who they’re vaguely related to ?

this has always confused me, I mean it’s a bit crass and ostentatious innit? I’m (2nd/3rd/4th inline) supreme ruler of the empire and all, but look at all these cool badges I’ve got too. Do they have an inferiority complex or something?
