It’s The Weekend Ride Picture Thread.

    Ride your bike.

    Take a few snaps.

Post them up with a few words about the ride.

Managed to drag a mate out riding today that hasn’t been on a ride in quite a while for “Reasons”.

Great to see him going from pretty cautious to getting back towards where he used to be.

Even after  1800 Meters there was still a big smile.

Oh and he bought me some sausage rolls from the butchers. Result.

My usual riding buddy is busy this weekend, which is annoying because I fancy doing the Boredale Hause route, but not by myself. I might just go lane bashing by myself and see where I end up. But if anyone wants a tag along on Sunday in the South Lakes area, I’m probably free.

Jumps sesh this morning, was a bit damper than expected but the trails were still running great ?

I’ve not been down there in ages I really need to go a lot more often, it’s loads of fun and a great vibe. Loads of young shredders and dads who should know better.

    Screenshot_20241102_142544_PhotosScreenshot_20241102_142358_PhotosScreenshot_20241102_142659_PhotosScreenshot_20241102_143727_Photos

Got towed into a new (to me) line by a couple of young lads. 2 jumps done,  2 to go. I’m confident I’ll get the 3rd one next time, but the last one is huge –  much bigger than anything I’ve hit previously (other than big tables) and quite technical / hipped.

Sorry for rubbish photos – screen grabs from videos and poor lighting conditions.

Back out to the Yat. Big old day, really good conditions for November. Ticked off a few tech features I’ve been avoiding by blaming my elbow 🙂 Failed to take any pics of those. 55km/1050m of climbing. Day 47 or something of 100 days so legs are always tired, but a fab day out.

Out in the Peak for the weekend. Plenty out on the trails.

Decided to do Lockerbrook to see if it had got any better only to find out that they are now logging above it so the new trail has been trashed and they have stuck another gate in just after the last left hander.

Rest of the ride was good

    @Alex

That suspension bridge is looking pretty aged now.

Always brings back great memories of trips to the FOD back in the early 2000s.

Extremely wet and slippy, but still loads of fun today in Belfast:

That suspension bridge is looking pretty aged now.

It’s also been repaired quite a few times. During flooding a couple of years ago, the wye went OVER the bridge. The banks were getting washed away so they needed to put in new concrete anchors and cables. My mate who lives on the Doward side had 5km added to every ride on the other side of the valley!

Is 9 degrees unseasonably warm? I’ll take the lack of wind though 🙂

Closest I got to a bike this weekend! Looks nice but they argued the whole time, they still said they had fun and love riding their bikes though so that’s a win I guess!

Did a loop round the back of Mam Tor, down to Eadale and then back up onto the ridge to come back down into Hope.

Mist never lifted. Trails are still running good but getting a bit sticky in places

PXL_20241103_125056057Quiet ride around some local bridleways and some jumpy fun in Trowbarrow. Still haven’t cleaned the climb from the Warton side of the Old Coach Road, one day…

Long local trail ride today. Found a new downhill line in one of the local spots. Quite steep and quite interesting. Did a few jumps again – same as yesterday.

Was running well under wheel generally, a few sticky spots out in the open but in woods, really quite dry.

Main hazard was leaves – couldn’t see the trail at all (let alone any obstacles) at times!

IMG_20241103_130700011~3Mills and moors event from Halifax, rode the long version with my son. 70km and over 1500m of up so quite a tough day with lots of short punchy climbs and some really nice bits of singletrack we’d not ridden before. The leaf-slick climb from triangle up to Norland was beyond me at the end of the day. Grey days defeat my photographic abilities, but here’s one anyway..

I’ve had a few days off so have made the most of it, riding every day on road and MTB.

MTB wise, I did a double lap of Bedgebury on Thursday and then did almost 60km on the North Downs today. Sad to be back at work tomorrow…

A distinctly wet autumn lap of Llys-y-Fran reservoir in Pembrokeshire. My closest all-weather ‘trail centre’. Some little fun bits of riding and a good place to try out some new tyres.

Saturday was half a ride at Ross on the KSL before the rear brake started passing fluid out of the lever… Grrrr.

Sunday was a full ride at Staunton on the Rail. Blimey, all that extra weight makes it a proper handful when it gets techy…

Was without a vehicle yesterday so took the lad out on Cut Gate via Bamford and Hadfield train stations.

Cool weather out along the reservoirs, then misty and wet up to the Cut Gate plateau. Excellent riding along and down to Langsett. Woodhead was ass, but the spin down Longdendale into Hadfield was nice and fast.

The classic out and back would have been better, in hindsight, but good to do a different link-up.

After 4 weeks off the bike I managed a gentle pootle, and it was brilliant.  Nothing fast or technical, just a most pleasant pedal around the local resevoir taking in the beautiful autumnal colours.

Bikes are good for the soul!
