Digging up this thread from the grave it seems, with sad news…
Just over half way to work this morning, going up the only incline of note in that direction, when the drive-side crank on my Voodoo Wazoo fatbike sheared through the pedal thread! 😮
Happened to any other owners?
Managed to push the sheared crank over on the flat enough to then allow me to push the non-drive side pedal down in 38/17, freewheel on the downslopes and walk most of the incline home.
The Wellgo B54 flat pedals have been on there since around Xmas, been using 17T sprocket with 24/38T chainrings for ~12 months, so no idea why it decided to shear now.
Crankset is Lasco 24/38T IIRC, square taper, need to see how much it would cost to source a replacement that works and then perhaps look into that £50 COVID-19 bike maintenance voucher scheme that I think starts very soon (end of July?) to get Halfords to fit it.
Or maybe use this as the perfect excuse to find a new commuter (Voodoo Marasa or the new incoming Boardman ADV 8.9 are top prospects right now, hopefully through C2W, but I could always simply use British Cycling 10% discount) and then see if anyone wants the Wazoo for its intended offroad use.
It’s ~4.5 years old now and was great for giving me confidence to ride again after my Xmas 2013 RTA, but since the rear FatNotFat 29er freehub inconsistently lost drive and so I fitted the rear fat wheel again, it’s a lot more of a slog for work commute, especially on the way home up a couple of 6-14% slopes.
