having fitted a new kitchen before christmas i'm sorting out the garage/utility room. i fancy a workshop stand for fiddling with bits on the bike rather than having to hang it from the ceiling with bits of cable. i want something reasonably stable and am not bothered about needing to move it as i've got enough space to put it up and leave it.

    how much and what type???

    thanks

I bought one of the ones that Edinburgh Bicycle were knocking out for £50 (I think it's branded as part of their own brand Revolution range). Might be worth checking if that's still on offer.

I've had it for a few months and it definitely makes building bikes a lot easier – especially setting up the gears.

+1 what epicsteve says. got one for Mr MC for chrimbo and both really impressed with the quality of the design, build and finish for the price. Would have to spend ~3 times as much to get a Park stand of similar spec. The mag/website reviews linked from their page all speak to the longevity of the stand.

edit: I got it for same price as epicsteve but its still half the price of the equivalent Park at its full price £78.

And for a few quid you can get a magnetic parts tray, which nerdy Mr MC thinks is the greatest thing he's ever seen… 🙄

So long as your happy to leave it up this is very good. Proper clamp and takes up less floor space. Nice and heavy, and much more stable than my previous Minoura workstand, which I ended up giving away to bomberman

I paid about £150.00 for mine but see it's gone up quite a bit since then, but I can't see me ever needing to buy another.

I got one for £50 from Decathlon a while back. Wouldn't be without it.

    Minoura – Stunning quality imo.

A few mates just use their park stands in kitchen and fold up when done.

trouble with that is that mrs mattp is in there and there are knives in drawers which would come in to contact with my b***s if i went any where near this!!!
