“Size specific” – Are these the photos that misinformer was talking about? I assume they were reading from that it means wheel size rather than frame size or shock eye-to-eye size?

Good to see stuff being built anyhoo.

Surprised this thread doesn’t mention the Cotic Rocket 29er that I saw out in the Peak the other week.

Pretty sure it was Cy I met on the climb up from the watersplash at blacka about ooh a year ago on a 29er rocket. Memory a bit vague but had a brief conversation about whether it would be put into production… or maybe this was the short travel version that was talked about last year

And BOOM all ye doubters taking my screenname in vain, though the photo I’m sure had the frame written on,cant remember where the blog is of them being built up, but lost interest anyhow

I can’t see the “Size specific” photo above, but presume from the title that it was one of mine, of the machined shock mounts.

The shock mounts are specific to the frame size, as the angle the shock mount meets the down tube changes between different sized front triangles.

Yup, that was the one. All shiny and beautiful looking. The original poster seems to have deleted the link though, it was to a flickr album.

If they do arrive by the end of April, that’ll be 14 months since I originally ordered. Incredible wait.

Impressed by your patience/loyalty – the entire industry upped and moved to 650b in the meantime, and you’re still waiting.

No, it means “industry”. That’s why I used the word “industry”.

Thanks Alex… Must be totally missing the link between these photos and a 650b option?

    There is no link.

There’s a new rule… every forum thread must revert to a wheelsize discussion by page 2…

    = ;7)

Yes, exactly – somebody interpreted ‘size-specific’ as meaning wheelsize.
I guess that’s why the original link was removed – because they realised it showed nothing (except some images from the new facilities which is nice to see).

Despite misinformer insisting that there is, there may be no photo evidence of anything to do with 650b.

I’d change the privacy settings on that flickr link unless you want all and sundry viewing your family photos.

Probably worth pointing out that “26 ain’t dead” doesn’t automatically mean “650 isn’t alive”. Be surprised if Cotic weren’t producing all three wheel sizes pretty soon.

Er, No I’m not. Best you actually read posts before posting drivel.

I’m with honourablegeorge. Cotic is a business… they will surely want to make a product that sells, and what seems to be selling at the moment are larger wheeled bikes.

They already make a 29er, so it wouldn’t be a huge jump to make a 650b bike, but as has been mentioned, they can’t keep up with demand on the 26er rockets. No point in spending cash making new stuff now when your current designs are flying off the shelf.

Aaaanyway, anyone else got a prospective build to share, or a current build? The extra wait gives me a bit more time to change my mind over details.

I’ve had my Rocket since December 2012 now so I guess mine must have been one of the last of the initial run of them. Anyway, great bike. It’s so much fun to ride. Fun and agile is definitely the best way to describe the bike. It climbs pretty well for a 150mm travel bike, eats the singletrack and is a real hooligan on the descents. I work in a bike shop so I get to ride plenty of 650b and 29ers and while there are many great bikes out there none of them so far have tempted me to part with the Rocket. Like I say it’s just so much fun to ride. Here are a couple of pics.

The bike no longer has the RS Lyiks, it’s now sporting X-Fusion Slants

Current build is X-Fusion Slants and Fox Kashima CDT shock, Hope tech 4 brakes, Hope Hoops (Flows), Reverb, Thomson stem, XT (1×10) drivetrain, XO chain device, Vaults, Deity bars, Hillbilly front tyre, Purgatory rear tyre. Here’s another pic of current set up.

The pic is our little take on #26aintdead

Moving production to the Uk will make it flexible for them. Imagine it will be a pain for smaller manufacturers with three wheel sizes knocking about – three different inventories of rims, forks, etc. – until it all settles down.

Thanks nod. What do you make of the Slants after the Lyrics?

    RickDraper

Size specific shock mount means exactly that, a slightly different size of shock to frame mount for each different size of frame. As for wheel size, its anyones guess.

merynella, so far impressed with the Slants. They’re 1.5 lb lighter than the Lyriks so the front end is much easier to lift over obstacles. The progressive nature of them is also a bonus as they resist diving. Good range of rebound adjustment and very easy to set up. Compared to the Lyriks they are definitely not as stiff but they are still stiff enough. The Slants have made the bike less of a battering ram than it was with Lyriks fitted. I’m yet to fully test them. I’ve done my local trails (mainly steep, rooty, techy stuff) and they’ve remained unfazed. I’m riding the golf course trails at Inners this weekend. If they survive without getting fazed then I’ll be impressed. Great forks for the money. Pikes are maybe a shade better but they’re also almost twice the price. Currently set at 160mm which is great on the steep stuff but I think I may drop them to 150mm. No regrets so far.

right then… you pipe up saying 26 aint dead is a bit of a fib cos they’re making a 650b rocket. The photos you then refer to are not of 650b rockets parts. Its not ‘Rocket’ science kiddo figure it out every single other person in this thread has.

One day I will drop on wherever it was and it will be a humbling experience for you ,since I have moved on to looking at something which is available to buy, more because I would like to upgrade my bike for the summer and ride it than talking crap on the internet, by the time you get a bike maybe the 650 thing will have passed you by anyway.

merynella – big thumbs up for the slants after 17.5 miles and 4000ft of descending at the golf course trails this weekend. Stiff, controlled, sit nicely in their travel (no diving), consistent rebound. Nothing fazed them really. A bargain fork. Only time will tell on reliability. Ok, there is no opportunity to tune compression of the fork but I didn’t feel the need. I like simple forks that just do the job in hand.

Everyone can now carry on speculating themselves into a right tizzy. I’m looking forward to my UK 26 Rocket, for the record.

I’ll be better for it. Good people are working hard to do things in the best way, and that’s bloody ace. I guess I’m fortunate to still have a bike to ride in the meantime.

    So my prospective build,
Large green frame, white Slants and the CCDB shock. I’ve a 1×9 SLX set up, Hope M4s, gravity dropper, Renthal bars all coming of my beloved Dialled Alpine. (it will rise again) I’ve also brought a pair of Havens to be shod tubeless with HR II/Ardent combo.

I’m checking for news roughly every 15-20 mins through the day. Expectation is reaching fever pitch. I might pop

    And yes brunse11, I agree

In my pile of unused bits are some (26″) Flow rimmed wheels, Pike, Reverb, 1×10 SLX (on LX cranks because they were dirt cheap) and some SLX brakes (because I’ve only a ever used Hopes up to now, and have to give Shimano a try now that everyone rates them). Hoping to get my old Fox DHX coil shock serviced and fitted to save money.

I feel the pain of others waiting… they’re going to be great though. But I’m at the back of the queue. If not behind the queue.

I waited about a year for more rockets to become available, and in the end ordered a YT Capra… Which I still have to wait for… Lol

Wonder will cotic be tempted to make a crazy 650b rocket with 160-170mm travel at some point.
