Which Airport LHR or LGW?

Going to a family wedding in Guildford in June, which airport would be better for getting to Guildford, Heathrow or Gatwick?

Prices are the sameish so its down to ease of getting away from airport picking up hire car and enduring the southern traffic.

We have an office in Guildford & I always come in via Gatwick
Heathrow isn’t much further though, although I always seem to get held up on the part of the M25 that goes past it

Guildford is in the same trail line as Gatwick so rail travel between the two is a doddle.

Gatwick would be my vote if you use a car instead also. Quick section of M25, down the A3 and you’re there 🙂

I would say Gatwick it is much smaller and less busy so in my opinion nicer! Traffic doesn’t tend to be as bad around Gatwick either i would say. If you fancy going cross country you can avoid the M25 as well

26 miles from Heathrow, 34 miles from Gatwick. Gatwick to Guildford cross country complicated and slow, so you really need to use the M25, and it is much further on the M25 than from Heathrow. Depends where you are flying from, but usually more flight options to Heathrow

By rail – Gatwick (straight there on the gatwick express)
By road – heathrow, slightly easier but not much on it. Gatwick to guildford is all M25 then A3, and Heathrow to guildford is the same, just the other direction.
