After gnusmas posted up the Alpkit discount weekend, I was wondering what the bike is like?

Any women out there got one.
I’ve never ridden a 29er before. Hubby thinks it will be a better bet (more confidence inspiring) than the 26er I have now.

Take a punt territory given they were only released last month im afraid… pondering the same; sonder & evol have pretty good rep, cortex geo looks spot on, i know it won’t be lighest frame/build but overall looks very tempting. Choosing colour is a whole other issue 😬

I’d be tempted by the Cannondale Habit 5 which is about £100 cheaper for a similar suspension spec but a nicer quality frame in the sales. The drivetrain isn’t snazzy 12 speed but I’d trust Deore over NX (even as someone who has Sram stuff on one of my bikes) and you can always upgrade that cheaply.

The cannondale lokos nice but with the 15% discount this weekend, the Sonder is down to 1275. Also need a size SMALL frame as Bunnyhop is only 5’4″

For me 15% off isn’t worth a punt without a ride. I did find it was better than my current bike in the steep stuff. But the suspension wasn’t right for me the day I rode it. I might try again after I’ve tried something else

From a spec point of view, I think you have to be happy with the lower end fork – because the whole package doesn’t make that much sense if you decide to upgrade it quickly.

Won’t be a light bike with the lower end kit on it either. If that’s an issue.

29ers are great though and hide their weight better than smaller wheel bikes.

Can you sort a demo ride from the Hathersage shop?

Keswick have a small one on demo- give them a ring if you can get over and give it a try!

Hathersage is much closer to us, but we can’t get over this weekend. think we might give it a spin at some point soon though to try ot for size, then condier what spec package to go for – as ou say, that’s a budget forks, so might be worth either getting a higher specced bike, or buying frame only and building it up.

They’ll move the bike between shops for demos.

They’ll build the bike any way you want. So if you just want a fork swap just ask for a quote
