    beans – Heinz obviously.

Can’t believe you managed to slip in that thread diversion 3 hours ago and nobody has called you out on it. Branson beans obviously?

As a curve ball, what about a scotch egg?

Sliced in two it would look like 2 fried eggs…

Or if you arranged it artfully enough, a classic cock ‘n balls.

    Absolutely Branston over Heinz.

In answer to the OP it really does have to be chips and (Branston) beans for the optimum sausage roll dinner.

Slip a slice in a heavily buttered roll with ketchup

Why can beef (or venison) be Wellington?

Why can salmon be en croute?

    But sausage is. Roll.

    Sausage en croute.

Thank you for all the advice.  Which I ignored.

Went with new potatoes and leeks roasted in the fat from four extra sausages I couldn’t fit in the pastry.  With a red Leicester and caramelised onion sauce. And peas.

Washed down with a bottle of Crémant de Loire.

Ended up doing two large rolls.  One giant one wouldn’t fit in the oven.

I’ve never tried Branson baked beans, but on the strength of your recommendation, I’ll give them a go next time i need to buy some.

Or I might give Branston beans a go.
