Thinking of a pitch and was wondering what size. I am just under 6 foot. Would a medium be too small?

im your height with short legs and thought even the medium felt big, but then i ride BMX’s half the time.

Had a test ride, i hated it, reign-x on the other hand was a hoot! Unfortunately the reign iteslf apparenlty is not so good 🙁

i am 5’11” and liked the large – although i seem to have my own skool of thought on bike sizing – I’d rather have big bike and short stem than small bike long stem.

I’m 6′ with long legs (34″) and find the L just fine with no changes to stem etc. There seems to be some thought that the L loses some of the M’s character – guess try-before-you-buy, but I’m happy with the L (except for having to send the forks back as lockout kept failing!)

Some people reckon Pitches feel big or long…. I’m 5’8″ and ride a medium and it feels tiny to me, smaller then my 16in Inbred, put it that way. It seems to have a fairly long wheelbase but that only makes itself felt when I try to pop the front up…

I’m just under 6 foot and have a medium. Perfect. In fact i’ve put a shorther stem on.

On a separate not PeterPoddy any chance you could send through your servicing guide for RS Pikes mate?

MD – Yes mate, sorry I completely forgot last night, I was packing for Bristol Bikefest….
I’m right this second checking to see if I have them here on my laptop, because I’m leaving straight from work tonight…

My apologies, I did say I’d send them to you
    😳

5’8 and on a medium here – small was too small for me.

Can I have the Pike servicing guide too please? 😛

We had them as hired bikes at my old place, I’m 6’4” and I preferred the Medium, the large is very long. I do like smaller bikes though..

I’ve just bought a Large Pitch frame but not built it up yet – I’m 6 foot – it does “look” long and the geometry would bear that out but with a 60-70mm stem I’m expecting it to be OK

Yep got them, I’ll forward them on to you soon

OK, first things first: It’s not a Pike servicing guide. 🙂

I have 3 guides I put together intened to show people how to do specific jobs on RS forks – Remove Poploc levers and convert to crown lockout, change coil springs, and change travel on non-U-Turn air forks.

However, as most of these require some sort of disassembly, they are useful for other stuff, and most RS forks are the same inside anyway!

I’m 6ft tall and ride a medium, feels perfect to me. In saying that it was the only Pro I could find in the UK about six weeks ago so didnt really have a choice.

im 5’8″ and medium is spot on with plenty more room for larger riders.

Had mine out for a right good thrashing yesterday and im falling in love with it more every day

Jamesgarbett – I think the Large will be too big for you and you should sell the frame to me and buy a medium 😉

I’m about 5’11”, ended up getting the large as the medium seemed a little cramped to me. But, yes, it’s got a long wheelbase, about 4″ longer than my old Superlight but the saddle to handlebar distance is the same, the Pitch feels very stable whereas now the Superlight feels a bit ‘skittish’ … all I need now is to ride the pitch on the flats and downhills but change over to the superlight when I have to go up hill! 😉

Out of interest, does anyone know the difference in wheelbase between the large/medium? The way the front wheel seems yards away every time I get on after my hardtail never ceases to shock me – shallower rake + maxle thing I guess.

I’ve just measured my Pitch (L), Pikes at full travel, axle to axle is 47.5 inches – compared to my Superlight which is 42.5, which makes a difference of 5 inches!

Centre of saddle/seatpost to bars is: Pitch 27, SL 26.5 inches
