If I were to lament for a moment then I suppose it would be listening to all the people who told me I was thick, I didn’t learn I was actually proper clever until very recently. Actually, that sounds more like I’m bitter and twisted about it – I’m not, I just don’t blame anyone else but me for my own inferiority complex.

Wasting my younger life being immature. If I’d been a bit more grown up about things, I would not have shafted up my A levels or my degree, nor made the same cock-ups in relationships.

Mind you, it all worked out in the end, so I guess the pain was worth it.

Oh, that and my wife never meeting my grandad. They would have got on really well.
