    It’s time to shake things up and commit to something a bit scary where I feel like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew – I’m thinking of maybe a 300km or even 400km Audax.

    What are you eyeing off that’s making you a little nervous?

    Would love to be inspired by your physical/sporting/health/mental self-inflected projects/challenges….

    A) 1 year without the need of crutches

    B) Organise one new bike event (already started)

    C) Improve the appearance and usage of Southampton Bike Park (part funded by B)

    D) Lose 2.5 stone (hopefully though step E)

    E) Actually ride my bike

    Here was me thinking that Glentress 7 would be a challenge enough for 2016! I’m obviously not trying hard enough!

    I’m thinking of doing Iron Cross next September, definitely Roubaix and Tro Bro Leon, maybe Super Enduro B-Road, Gravel Dash, Battle on the Beach, oh – and a new kitchen…

    Knock work on the head for six months and go travelling. I haven’t got much beyond panicking about that… As far as cycling goes we’re doing a couple of three day MTB things in the Andes which should be good.

    edit: f7a sport would be nice though

    Run a decent half marathon

    Run an ultra

    Get back to only having two bikes (n-1), and actually race them more

    I was thinking this very thing earlier.

    Mine are:
    Lose 1.5 stone, mainly so can ride with some speed…
    La Marmotte if I can get an entry.

    That’ll do for the moment.

    Three peaks (running version). Not really tha big and scary but it’s the main goal for the spring and 3 times further than any previous fell race (I’ve done flat road marathons). Will try to find a few long MTB events too.

    Paying for the 2 bikes I bought this year 😆 And the greatest challenge of all, getting decent money for all my 26 inch stuff.

    Get below 85kg

    Get my partner to learn to ski and want to go again.
    Believe it, that may be challenge enough 😉

    Following on from this years challenge of riding to the pub for a beer.

    I have the Brentwood Half Mara in March that I do every year to keep me honest through the winter months.

    The Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 50k as something to build up to in August

    Might look for a Tri or two for somewhere in the middle of those dates

    Come out of winter the same weight I went in, with my asthma under control.
    Some 60-100 mile offroad rides in spring/summer.

    Use the 12 hours+ a week that I have been studying for exams this year on top of the day job to…
    – spend loads more quality time as a family and
    – Ride more
    – Do some kind of charity biking event with some big hills and mileages
    – Lose at least a couple of stone
    – Finish all the half done garden projects

    That should see me thorough next year. none individually should be a massive issue, the challenge is balancing them!

    Beat my marathon PB (3:09). And a couple more ultras, just not sure which yet. I’ll probably do the (local to me) GTP again, and I’d like to do one the spring ones in the Canaries.

    1) Hold my marriage together
    2) if 1 == TRUE
    {
    try and get [wife] pregnant and carry the child to term (or at least to more than a survivable number of weeks)
    }
    3) Ride more, maybe even get fit enough to go to BPW, Snowdonia and some of the other fun/nice places
    4) Try and get my running back up to half marathon level
    5) Learn to swim properly and maybe to a triathlon

    Do at least one bivi/camp per month (again). I’ve managed this in previous years but somehow got lazy this year.

    Although hampered by worsening health I would love to cycle a modest route that can be broken down into chunks and spread out over the year. Very keen on following one of the many ancient trackways in Wessex so an evening with maps spread out on the floor, beer in hand plus rock on the hifi should enable me to formulate a plan.
