When I’m working Christmas Eve whilst my family are at home enjoying their buffet and drink; I’ll be at work. When I’m dealing with the seriously injured, dying and bereaving I shall put them in their place with this tragic story. Allegedly copied for one trolling reasons.

I wasn’t trying to troll; I was trying to find out if my reaction to the OP was minority or not and start a conversation about the different attitudes/ perspectives on different forums. I thought the best way of finding out was to simply repost the same thing and see what people thought without leading them in a specific direction. As his post wasn’t intended as a troll I didn’t see mine as such. Clearly the line between trying to guage reaction and get a reaction became blurred, and the response I got does make my post seem like a troll.

So, sorry.

Anyway. Now I’ve confused myself.

I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing the same thread next Christmas. Can’t see this going away by then, can’t see it getting better.

Did the OP:

1) Repost something from another user on another forum posing as himself to see what the response would be?

2) Repost something from himself on another forum because he genuinely wanted a round of applause?

Both would be weird in their own way. If the answer is 1) – why not just post a link and a WTF comment rather than potentially giving the impression of being a dick to people who tuned out before the punchline? If the answer is 2) – what did you expect on here, sympathy?

Well said. And it did become funny eventually but there several people with serious problems related to what’s going on around us.

Going back to the ‘original’ OP ie not the reposted version. I’m really not sure what to make of it – feels like somebody who is just ridiculously out of touch with the real world. I’m not sure if they are trying to elicit sympathy (I don’t actually think they are), or if they are, in some misguided way, trying to encourage responsible behaviour over the Christmas period. Having said that, if this is their life, then I guess it is just as real to them as somebody trying to feed their kids on the last of their redundancy pot. Bit odd all round.

Because I wanted to know what people thought without leading them. And I reckoned the most accurate way of doing that was to post exactly the same post here and see what people’s general responses were.

I don’t think I need my own thread right now and I certainly don’t want to be turning this masterpiece into being about me.
We are dealing with things one day at a time and have an excellent support team helping us. We consider ourselves very lucky to of gained extra time, something that a lot of other people sadly never got the opportunity to enjoy. Many people have had to travel this sad journey and many more will have to do the same in time to come. Whilst it’s obviously a difficult time for us I can say I have learnt so much more about life along the way.
If you can, go hug your loved ones, there is too much anger in the world and you never know what life has planned for you.
