    Buried in their anti-traveller pledge is the lovely little line

    “We will make intentional trespass a criminal offence
    (their emphasis).

    Cheeky trail rider? Law breaker. Black and white if this gets passed.

    It’ll make access arguments significantly harder, affect cheeky trails (over land with people with guns), impacts wild camping…the list goes on.

    I heard farmers argue for the continuation of the temporarily banned access after the last wave of foot and mouth disease. That would put them at odds with lots of people who enjoy the countryside at a time when potentially they’re losing subsidies from the EU and would be bleating about Westminster providing the same subsidies. It’s a dog whistle aimed at landowners and meatheads who imagine the law would only be applied to travellers. Just think, red socks, dog-walkers and cross country cyclists could become a new voting bloc.
