At your weight, go for something hand built (I’m somewhat heavier than you). My LBS built me Mavic Open Pro’s on Hope Mono RS hubs. Lighter than Ultegra and utterly bulletproof.

I’ve been really pleased with my Shimano wheels from Ribble I’m 110kg and they’ve done around 2000 miles in London/Surrey so far without any trouble on not the best roads. Not exotic but get the job done.

Thanks matts, any recommendations for wheelbuilders?

Not used them myself but Strada seem very well regarded and are regularly recommended in threads such as this.

I’ll be building up some 32h Open Pro rims on Novatec 771/772 hubs for my cyclocross (and 29er) soon. Should be 1762g according to the DT Swiss spoke length calculations.

Seems heavy, househusband. I just built a set of 771/2 hubs with Pacenti SL25 rims, 32 d-lights 3x, and brass nips, and they came in at 1700 on the nose.

These are back in at CRC but now at £359.99.

I got a pair when they were at £199.99 and are waiting for me in Spain.

I’ve sourced some very positive long term reviews since I read all of the negative ranting.

Maybe the £199.99 price was an error by CRC, only time will tell but I do hope so.
