Actually, I’ve seen Nevis in the “charts” several times over the past few seasons when I’ve been paying attention to this kind of thing.

I got it from Mountainbug’s facebook page, the got it from the local tourist body’s page. No idea who compiled the stats

Nevis. Interesting a couple of mates of mine are going up there tomorrow, perhaps it’s not so daft after all.

Nevis is awesome when it has decent snow and weather, though I prefer Glenshee purely for the Glas Maol.

Glencoe is one of my favourite resorts. Had a great day skiing the Goose @ Nevis in fresh snow. Conditions at Glenshee were less optimal so it’s not high on my list 🙂

Getting a lot colder and the warm weather pattern finally seems to have shifted. Snow Forecast is for a big dump on Monday but I’ll believe it when I see it at the moment….

Oh dear my 10 year old skis are completely knackered.

    What’s a girl to do?

Get some brand new spangley, all singing all dancing new one’s of course 🙂

I had one of the best days skiing ever at Nevis range a few years ago, Fresh powder, sun came out in the afternoon and hardly anyone out. Shame about the mt restaurant though. I much prefer the base Glencoe one or Casbar, Cairngorm.

Come on you beast! Snow! Purleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

We’ll be there late Saturday night so a dump on Monday would be VERY welcome!

Water skis seem to be all the rage, Bunnyhop.

I’ve just lit the wood burner on the plain, that means it’s snowing heavily up the hill. I reckon this weekend and early next week will be some of the best skiing of the year in France. Fresh snow on a deep base and sunshine.

Surprisingly ok! If the snow doesn’t arrive I’m also happy enough to show you around the bike trails :p

I arrive in Whistler on the 12th, can you please arrange for plenty snow to be puked prior to that. That is all. 🙂

    Ski wise, I had a go on these;

    Nordica NRGY100

    and these

    Salomon Q98

Of the two, I think I just preferred the Nordica. The Salomon had super light tips, which felt lovely in the treelined stuff, but a bit weak on the piste, but the Nordicas were just a bit more “powerful” feeling over the whole mountain. Loads of float for pow, but still quite fun on the groomers.

Probably won’t be doing any biking (both mates have knackered shoulders) but be good to meet up. Where do you usually après?

Keep an eye out for three 40 year old Scottish guys fannying about on boards or drinking heavily.

    Booked # 2
Fly out sat to La Plagne , got an amazing £199 on a week in a catered chalet , going solo with no single supplememnts.
Got a not so good £210 return flight from Soton to GVA , plus £44 one way transfer. still unsure of how to get from LaP to GVA on the way home as the early trasnfer bus is full .
Just got to work out if my skis are in the £210 or not , and how to get to Aime station at 0545 which will be in a private taxi probably ,unless I can ski down the road…

Wallop I can’t ski for at least another year, so unable to try any out yet, let alone buy. What did you get in the end?

Singletrackmind – I’m out in La Plagne next week too, Belle Plagne. Happy to meet up and ski a bit if you want? What kind of stuff do you like to ski?

As to conditions, the forecasts have gone a bit, well vague… Unless they are not broken and it’s going to be wall to wall sunshine and 17 degrees 😯

Hi, Normally ski off piste , but the heatwave means that probably wont be happening. Happy to ski anything pisted ,prefer reds and blacks though. Look for fun features like gulleys and chutes to play on as well.

Not a park boi though , too old and brittle for that nonsense.

Shame its gone to spring skiing so early, still should be warm for afternoon beers.

Will pm you some contact details. I have bought a LaP pass with1 day in Les arcs . Rob

Hi Rob – definitely sounds good, sounds like we are similar ability. I’m 41 now so not in to park stuff myself!

I’ve already paid for an off piste guided session on Wednesday with reflex (as I didn’t fancy going off piste by myself)

Glenshee looking good there Geoffj 8)

Oh and Bunnyhop, the Casbar is no more at Cairngorm, they’ve turned it into some gray dull shop with only a couple of overpriced clothing rails as I discovered when I popped my head in the door a couple of weeks ago 🙁

Good skiing weather and people are moaning. It’s only a week ago that resorts were closed half the week with a few token pistes open for a few hours on the other days.

It’ll be great: five degrees overnight will still allow the snow to freeze so you have firm groomed pistes first thing that will soften up nicely without turning to soup.

44cm dump on Monday!! Woo hoo! Our holiday is saved. Praise be the snow gods.
    Hail Ullr! Hail Chione! 😀

There was always a shop in there, but the cairngorm operators seem determined to discourage the skiiers. Odd, I suppose, but hey, what do I know – I’m just a bloke who likes siding around on snow, not someone who runs a ski area leisure facility for rich day trippers that needs to run even when there’s snow on the ground

Don’t know if you’ve seen the depressing photos of Whistler earlier in this thread but they are having a shocker of a season out there.

Any reason not to buy a low roller from Sport Pursuit?

Also, just had a week on skis and quite fancy picking some up second hand. Current plan is to try and get touring gear as I really fancy doing some of that. My brother and step-dad were both skiing all week on their touring gear and it didn’t seem to hold them back.

Anyone got any tips on what I should be looking out for? Brands, models, types of binding etc? Roughly what length should I be looking at for a 5’8 100kg powerhouse? 😉

    I know nothing about skis…

Joining SportPursuit is like drilling a hole in your bank account.
Prices are good but you keep buying stuff.
And you need more storage space at home.

ha ha, I actually stopped using it for that reason and now I just buy less stuff from elsewhere but at higher prices. Saves money and space !

Cheers for the invite Graham, I’ll no doubt bump into you and your cronies, look out for a young 50 year old Scot riding a black Dupraz board. Been reading some reviews and up top seems good enough so I’m not suicidal about it. Was there same time last year and it was fantastic. Time yet for a wee flury, ever the optimist.

Snow Forecast report for Whistler has picked up again so there is some hope. A dump on Monday night would be perfect timing for us because we have Cat Boarding booked on the Tuesday 😀

(although I guess they might be wary of going out in fresh snow for safety reasons, which would pretty much max out my irony meter)
